I've made the reservation through bookin.com, then I called the hotel to check the reservation and ask to assign a nice room for me. Night receptionist said that he will assign for me a standard room which is a bit bigger than others, with the view to the tram lines, but unfortunately when I arrived day receptionist found nothing about my request and I’ve been given a regular room. This is not a pity and of course didn't make any awful impression about the whole stay, but I think guests will be more satisfied if receptionists will be taking guests preferences properly and they will be followed up by another shift. I am also working in a 5* hotel in front office and I know how guests becoming happy when all their requests have been met accordingly. It might happen because of the lack of the staff at the reception. I hope this is a single occasion and not happens often.

Front Desk team looks very friendly and willing to help. But as many times I was coming up to the desk, there was a line of other guests, so I had to wait to ask a simple question. Again because of the lack of Front Desk staff. But they want to do as much as they can for the guests and this is great!

Housekeeping.I asked for another bathrobe and slippers and they were not brought to the room until I came down to the desk the next day. :) This is unacceptable for even 2* hotel. Also I was rejected to refill my minibar because there is no night housekeeper. Room cleanliness, equipment and design are perfect.

Maintenance. I had a small TV problem – channels quality got low. It was immediately fixed by the RESTAURANT employee, but not by the maintenance department – this has two sides – Bad: Again lack of the staff. Good: Restaurant staff doing not their job to help the guests. Also I’ve noticed that only one of three computers for the guests is working.

All in all it is a trendy hotel with excellent location and modern interior and we really enjoyed our staying in it. Hotel management should pay attention to the details and hire some more personnel and hotel will be running a great business! There are many possibilities for this hotel! Thank you very much for everything!

Amazing hotel in a perfect location. Like the other reviews say breakfast is absolutely out of this world! We got it for 10 euros because we joined their 'loyalty scheme' which cost nothing to join, but gets you half price breakfasts, a newspaper and a free tapas dish in the bar. They will offer you this on check in.

Rooms are small but perfectly formed, really nice design. Very comfy bed! Great bathroom with nice shampoos etc. TV only has 1 English channel (BBC Wrold News). You will also find a 'pillow menu' at the side of the bed from which you can pick from various different pillows which you can order from reception.

Walk to Altstadt takes 5 - 10 mins through the park, which is lit at night but the hotel is also around the corner from Nordstrasse Metro, only 1 stop away from the Atlstadt. Late at night just jump in a taxi back, it is less than 5 euros and there are always plenty around.

I absolutely recommend this hotel its well worth the money!

Only spent one night at the Melia as a surprise trip for my girlfriend. Perfectly located, close to the city center but in a quiet area next to a park. Rooms are brand new and very comfortable. Did not use any of the facilities at the hotel, but these looked very good as well. Would definetly recommend for a short city break. Also compliments for the guest experience manager, who put a welcome note and surprise in our room (as this was our anniversary weekend). Well done!

We checked in last weekend for two nights with our two teenage kids. The service, rooms and location was just great! We had two rooms, one facing the front and one facing the back, and both were equally quiet.

I would especially like to mention the breakfast buffet and the lounge bar. Great staff, food and drinks!

We will definitely stay here next time, if not with friends:)

This hotel exceeded every expectation and should be an example of how to run a hotel. Best breakfast in any hotel bar none. I have no idea how they can put out such a beautiful spread. They had a pillow menu to choose from. Imagine that! A pillow menu with different types of pillows. The bed was so comfortable. The room so quiet and clean. Right on the beautiful Hofgarten park, the Melia Hotel was such a pleasant place to stay it was a shame to leave. The staff are incredible. The price was tight. I can't think of anything negative about the hotel, it is that good.

The rather new hotel (opened in October 2009) is a great find. Centrally located in a quiet residential street bordering the gorgeous Hofgarten park, it is just a 10 to 15 min. stroll through the park to Old Town and the Rhine promenade. For those not interested in walking: a tramway and subway stop is right around the corner.

Rooms and public spaces are very nicely designed and the hotel's art concept reflects the park from across the street.

Our room was not especially large, but it was so smartly designed, with lots of shelves and storage space, that it never felt cramped. Beds were great, nice bath amenities were provided, the walk-in shower had nice water pressure and did not - as it happens so often - cause a flood on the bathroom floor. The room, though facing the street, was absolutely quiet.

Each guest received a voucher for a free tapa sample at the very hip bar/lounge. As member of Melia's MAS rewards, a newspaper was delivered to the room each morning free of charge.

Staff was very nice and courteous throughout, and let us check-in very early (around 10 a. m) and check-out late (2 p. m.) without any hassle.

Best feature: the breakfast buffet! As you can see in my profile, I have stayed at many places, but this buffet was outstanding: apart from the usual hot and cold dishes, they served fresh strawberries, fresh cherries, paté, Bircher Muesli, yummy Müller Milch varieties - you name it. All that to be taken in the bright and airy "aqua" restaurant. Just great!

My new favourite hotel when visiting Düsseldorf!
