This brewery had a very historic feel and one of the most festive atmospheres I've ever been in. I'm sure that partly it was due to the large amount of people in Dusseldorf due to a huge trade show in town, but that only amplified the feeling of celebration. The food was traditional and the specialty pig knuckle is not as bad as it sounds to most Americans. The highlight is the beer. The traditional "alt" beer is the star of the show. It is dark and a little strong, but served in relatively small glasses. The trick is that it never stops, and they don't stop bringing it until you protest. This is a stop even if you just want to try the beer and feel the zeitgeist.
