Came on recomendation o hotel reception c lerk. Not disappointed. Waiter was nice and offered suggestions. Chose the pork schnitzel (the size of my head); those oh-so-yummy fried potatoes and side salad. They have a beer garden but it did not appear to be open. Outside standing only tables available as is a separate bar area with seats. Got there aound 3pm on a Saturday; when I was leav ing lots of tables had reserved signs on them and the place was jumping inside and out.
Been to these types of brewery/restaurants and they all serv e decent meals and good beer---what else could you ask for.

we made a reservation for 12 and boy, that was fun. beer flowing steadily in small (200 ml) glasses. do you like big mugs? try small, every few minutes, beer tastes so good, and fresh, you never again want a big glass...... people / waiters / owner still trust each other: each order will be checked off on a "bierdeckel" = coaster made of paper. a tic is one beer, and else, the price. you collect at the end and nobody checks, no one doubts and no one runs away. wow, how refreshing.
food, it is not for everyone but need to try. good genuine cuisine. do not pretend to want to eat "healthy": be adventurous, and have a "Schweinshaxe" or "Eisbein" it is pork, sure but you never will have any better. other specialties all are worth trying. at least once.

We picked the Brauerei based on feedback and based on experience of similar set up in Munich. It was perfect.
The beer was excellent, and the food was good keeping in mind this is the type of food they do.
What i would recommend is to pick a table with others, meaning with people you do not know.
Most of the time they do this when you did not book and it is almost full. You get into very interesting discussions and long ones

On a visit to Germany you must try an authentic German restaurant for some hearty local food and I visited Brauerei Schumacher in Dusseldorf. The restaurant was very busy and as I was dining alone I had to share a table with a young Russian which made for an interesting dining experience. I opted for a glass of Spatburg under Rotwein even though the restaurant is owned by Alt and produces it's own beer. I dined on traditional Wiener Schnitzel which was a huge portion served with potatoes, peas and jam and finished of with a local traditional dish of melted cheese with seseme seeds. You certainly don't leave this restaurant hungary! Altogether an interesting dining experience and a must for every visitor to Germany.

the atmosphere is so typic that you can't escape a stop and the beer is special . The food instead is average and pretty much forgettable. Avoid if vegetarian, there's no valid option
