We stumbled on this place when we came out of Koln cathedral. Wanted lunch and crossed the pedestrianized square to what we thought was a little tearoom. In fact it is huge - lots of different rooms each with its own décor and style. The lunch was OK but the dessert, where you are allowed to pick whatever cake from the cakeshop, was outstanding. The black forest gateau (if you are allowed to call it that outside Baden Baden) was a work of a great professional chef. The thin pastry at the base was light, thin and crisp which ought to be impossible with all that cream and alcohol layered filling. The taste was heaven. My recommendation is just go there and have that cake or maybe two of them. The staff were not particularly friendly but the place works very efficiently and they are quite helpful.
