The cakes are fabulous but as the cakes are displayed in the shop a little german would be useful.Cafe reinhard is perhaps a little expensive but worth it for the experience !

If you've been to Harrogate or York and visited Betty's then you will recognise how similar this cafe is. Wonderful array of cakes and pastries plus an excellent choice of dishes served over lunchtime. It can get exceptionally busy and crowded at times - especially around 1430 / 1600 hrs and a Cafe Manager is needed to control the movement of people.

The café is pleasant enough, but trades too much on its position in front of the Dom. Admittedly, we only had hot drinks there, perhaps if we had indulged in some of the very attractive-looking patisseries we would have been more enthusiastic!

Coming to this upscale café here in the morning, I was delighted to find a small but well looked after breakfast buffet. Included was a pot of coffee, which turned out to be not even two small cups. Having a refill would have cost 5,50 euros extra. I know that German cafés make their money from coffee, and as with beer, that the price is proportional to the quantity, but I think the deal should have been more generous for breakfast, and I left the place quite disappointed. The buffet turned out to be just standard quality like you would find a two star hotel for the third of the price.

Unlike most other reviewers, my sister and I did not have any of the famous sweets available at this cafe. Rather, we ate two lunches there and had the potato and leek soup, which was so good the first time we decided to have it again. It was rather expensive for what you got. This cafe is always crowded since it's right across from the Cathedral. You're lucky if you find an available table. There was no warm greeting from the harried servers either time we visited. We also felt rushed so that the table could be turned. Be sure and visit the women's restroom, which has the most unique toilet stalls you'll ever see. Can't comment on the men's bathroom.
