We had lunch there and had a pork knuckle (Huge!) which I could not finish and my wife had Snitzel. the price vs quality was good and the service friendly. We were, however, the only ones there but I believe, like most of the "brau heus" in Koln the place would be packed in the evening. A good experience overall, exactly what we were looking for in an authentic german meal, a couple of beers for a decent price.

Stopped here on a Sunday for lunch and couldn't have been happier. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and offered our choice of tables. It was no problem for our two dogs to join us inside. Our waitress was also extremely friendly and helpful with our menu choices. I chose the pork knuckle with bacon fried potatoes and sauerkraut. This was a different take than I was used to, but it was delicious. The skin was more of a pork rindish texture vice the standard crackling. The sauerkraut and potatoes were both outstanding. My wife ordered a dish of sliced pork belly with a mustard sauce and salad. Very good! This place is a gym among German restaurants in Cologne.

The pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe) they serve in this place is probably the best in Cologne. Unlike the ones we had in other brewery restaurants, this one was put under the grill so that the skin was nice and crispy and could be eaten entirely. The menu is very varied, and every dish is freshly prepared, so that you may have to wait a bit.The portions were huge. We didn't even get to the desserts.

We ordered 2 main courses - the pork knuckle and the bratwurst. The pork knuckle did not disappoint. It was extremely crispy on the outside. The serving was huge and the sides (sauteed potatos and salad) were tasty too. The service was okay. However, what we disliked most was that you need to pay 0.50euro to use their toilet, which we think was an unreasonable practice. All the other restaurants in Cologne that we visited didn't have to pay for toilet use.

Stopped in here on a cool rainy Friday afternoon. The waitress / bartender greeted us very friendly and asked us to sit where we wanted. Being new to the area she immediately recognized us as Americans and explained the menu to us and suggested what we might like.

We both started with salads and Kolsch. For those of you not familiar with the local beer it is a very refreshing beer served cold in long cylindrical glasses. They have 3-4 sizes of the beer, we started small and worked our way up.

Pomme Frites, and Schnitzel and an included dessert of Apfel Struedel made the early afternoon lunch filling. I would recomend this location because of the tremendously kind waitress / bartender. I will be honest and say that with the simplicity of what i ordered I cannot see that it was too hard to mess up but nonetheless the food was well prepared and was a great start to our experience in Cologne.
