“Good Turkish food in Cologne!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

We were a party of seven and we all agreed that Bosporus is a great place to go for Turkish food while in Cologne. The food quality is very good, the room is well decorated, the service is friendly and above average, and the prices are reasonable. One negative thing was the wine. Bosporus serves only Turkish wines the majority of which are mediocre. I would recommend that they added some international wines as well so the customers have more choices.

“Not Authentic Turkish Food and very Pricey”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

My husband and I was in Cologne this week for a few days. As per the good comment here in Tripadvisor about this restaurant, we decided to go there for our dinner. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is nice and the staff who served us was polite as well, but the service was kinda slow. Now come to the food part, as we have tried quite a number of Turkish food around Germany and UK, we knew that how the Turkish food supposed to taste, especially their infamous Kebap. Through the recommendation from the waiter, we have ordered some warm and cold appetizers, Lamb Kebap and Mix Grill as our main dish.

The appetizers cam in small little bowl and just enough for 2 persons. The taste was average. We were surprised by the main dish. Lamb Kebap came with just 2 sticks of small cubes of lamb, on top of a bed of cut bread mixed with Yogurt and the mix grill has the mixture of chicken, lamb, beef and veal (thinly sliced) with some vege as the side and some turkish rice. The meat was tasteless and the portion was small and what's worse is the whole food was so westernize, totally didn't taste like TURKISH food at all. Each plate of the main course cost around 19 Euro per plate, for such a small portion.

The restaurant was also not careful with their hygiene as well. The glass of the beer that my husband ordered were full of greasy finger prints!! We have shown to the waiter and he has changed to a new glass of beer but we were being charged for the replacement as well! meaning you drink 1 but paid for 2!

This restaurant is such a disappointment and what's can't be accepted is the waiter automatically treated the remaining changed (coins) as his tips without us telling him it's OK to do so. Our bill came out with 67,20 Euro and we have paid 100 Euro, and the change came back to us is 32 Euro. He has taken the 0.80 for his own without us telling him to do so. Although it's just 0.80 cents, but its about being honest. The customer should decide whether they wanna keep the change or give it to the waiter. We are not stingy people, we planned to pay him tips, but since he did such a trick. We changed our mind.

We definately WILL NOT go back to this restaurant ever again. It's more like a tourist trap than an award winning restaurant.

“Good Turkish Food”
Reviewed October 14, 2009

Went with someone from Turkey who said the food is pretty authentic. He ordered everything for our group of eight. He ordered a bunch of small plates. Everything was pretty tasty. The place was pretty crowded, so others must think it's good, too.
