This hotel fits our criteria - clean, convenient, comfortable and safe.

The location is great, a few steps away from the Cologne Hbf and the Dom and Hohe Str shopping street. I think it is far enough away from the Dom that we did not hear any church bells, as some other reviews for other hotels in Altstadt Cologne stated.

The room is adequate size for a Triple Room. The bathroom is a bit small. The elevator is very small, and can fit only 2 persons at a time. The breakfast is good, with good choices. There is free wifi. Good value.

Highly recommended if you do not need all the frills of a 4- or 5-stars hotels.

I stumbled on this hotel online at the last minute before flying out and booked it. It was a good choice! Small unobtrusive hotel was a gem! The location was perfect - two blocks from the Dom Cathedral and main train station in Cologne. Access couldn't have been easier - great choice for train travellers. Right next to the Rhine bridge with all the love locks too. Easy to explore beautiful central Koln on foot. Room was small and clean with a view of the Dom. Bathroom was a nice surprise - beautifully redone in lovely tile. Breakfast in the morning was lovely, and we even lucked out with on-street parking right in front of the hotel. Price was good (we thought) at about 79 euros.

Two tips:
1) This hotel accepts cash only for hotel bills less than 100 euros - no credit cards. We were able to do it on the spot, but it took most of the cash I had on-hand with no warning.
2) Beware that many of Europe's old towns (Alstadt) now require some sort of emissions sticker to allow cars into the center of the oldest parts of town. Electronic scanners view each car entering and automatically issues tickets if your car doesn't have one. I think the hotel proprietor said the fine was 40 euros. We were lucky - didn't get a ticket, but weren't told about it by our car rental agency. Good idea to ask first and avoid the ticket later.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor away from street noise.

We booked this hotel on line after consulting tripadvisor. OK, it ain't luxurious - the rooms a fairly small, as is the lift, but, hey, when you're travelling by train to Cologne, a place adjacent to the Dom and main railway station can't be bad. The hotel is run by the owner and breakfast is good - cold cuts, eggs, fresh rolls and tea/coffee all excellent.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the station, the Dom and shopping. It is rather small, however and the walls are thinner than paper. The amount of internal noise is often unbearable, as compared to external noise which does not seem to be an issue. Great wifi which worked all the time. Only one English channel, which I suppose encourages one to go out a lot more. The breakfast is good value in Cologne, which is a very expensive city.

Room Tip: Do not choose room 15, though I suspect most of the rooms are as noisy. This room is next to the stairs and lift meaning everyone in the hotel goes past this room

Located a few metres away from Cologne airport, it is an ideal hotel for those wanting to explore Cologne while being at the centre. The cathedral is few metres away and easily accessible by foot, with shops, restaurants and cafeterias easily accessible by foot.

Rooms were clean with good free internet connection, bathroom altough nothing special was fine.

Staff was helpfull whenever we needed some information, one of them also took time to explain me the best sights to see in the few free hours I had.

I didn't have any breakfast from the hotel, so I cannot comment on the quality of the breakfast.

I do recommend this hotel for those who want to explore Cologne while staying at the centre.
