“Great location and value Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2012

I had a chance to spend 01 night in this hotel. The hotel was located very near to the cathedral and also near by some typical restaurants like the Jaipur - an Indian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant and a Turkish restaurant on the corner. The room was nice for a night or a couple of night stay. But the space in the bathroom was really terrible. One need to squeeze to fit in the shower box and the toilet. The break fast was simple and OK. The staff's were friendly. The lift also was small - good to fit 3-4 pax with out luggage. Free wifi is available in the hotel. The room amenities was also nice. They had only the Break fast to serve. If you need anything more, you may have to go out from the hotel.

Very good location, just a few hundred meters to railway, cathedral and shopping zone. I had a single room, it was small, but clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast. The staff is friendly. You can not find better hotel for this price in Cologne. Because of its location and low price it is highly recommended.

We booked the hotel for a family of 4 and were given a large room with a double, single and camp bed for the young one. The beds were firm but comfortable. The rooms itself was fine, overlooking the front of the hotel and therby needing windows shut at night to keep out the noise. There is a youth hostel very near by which on 1 of our 2 nights was loud with people hanging around outside.
Everything was clean, if somewhat dated, but the winner here is the location-easy walking distance to the city centre, Christmas markets and Dom. We were here for the markets and couldn't fault the location.
Breakfast was very good, but be warned, we had a very long wait on the first morning (at 9am) and on the second refused to pay for it and ate elsewhere as the queue was so long. It's a real shame that they don't allocate tables as there were several singles sitting at tables laid for 4, causing this unacceptable wait.
We were advised that if we'd got down earlier than there would have been room. It is a balancing act for any hotel, but surely the point of being on in a hotel is eating when it suits the guest.
They only had one waitress who ignored us while we waited for a table to become free, surely a cup of coffee would have not been too much trouble. When disputing the breakfast the gentleman on reception was pleasant and helpful, even taking us to the nearby car park to sort out our car parking charges.
You can park opposite the hotel but space is very restricted and bear in mind it cost around 18 euro a day to park in a car park. Access to the hotel is a nightmare, the road becomes 1 way and no entry just before the hotel and trying to find the right way is very difficult, be prepared for this.
Overall the hotel was what we expected for the price and was well worth the effort in finding it.

This is a typical 3* city centre hotel and the location is excellent. An easy walk to both the station and the Dom. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. All the staff are friendly and professional. Breakfast is included and there is a very good choice. We would happily recommend it to other travellers on a City Break.
TIP
Take the S-Bahn from the airport to the station - only 2.50 Euros. Once you have bought your ticket make sure you validate it using the machines next to the ticket machine.

No luxuries, but everything was decent and correct, the location next to the train station and 5min from the Dom is great, breakfast (included in the price) was quite good, and price was competitive. Overall a good deal if you're looking for a decent place to sleep and don't need a full-blown hotel facility.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are probably better. However, with closed windows there is no noise problem...

We were here for 2 nights, 2 couples with 2 motorcycles. Typical city centre hotel parking is a premium 12 euros per night although we halved the cost by squeezing the bikes into 1 space. A little tricky to find even with a SatNav...it doesn't help when a no-entry and one-way system has been put in place right in front of the hotel! Not a negative against the hotel, hopefully next years mapsource will include it! Good-sized comfortable rooms, although perhaps some TLC needed....our sink didn't have a plug! and the safe didn't work. Breakfast was ok, good selection of continental fair. The breakfast room was quite small given the number of guest rooms, which meant sharing tables with other guests, not a major problem. There was one server who was running around like an idiot, fetching tea/coffee and replenishing the buffet, so we did have to wait awhile for our coffee at busy times. A positive point is the hotel's location...2 min walk to the main railway station and Cathedral(Dom). Cologne has a good train/underground and bus service, although we did take awhile to understand the ticket system for the underground. It wasn't that clear how the zones work and we couldn't figure out how to buy return tickets, only singles, prices were reasonable though.

Pros:
- location is very close to train station
- reception staff (3 different ones during our stay) were all very friendly and helpful
- breakfast was good, room cheery and bright, food quality good
- we had a quiet room facing the street

Con:
- apparently if your room is on the opposite side to ours, you would overlook the train station and tracks. Probably would be noisy. Insist on a room overlooking the street
