This is an excellent hotel if you are visiting Cologne on a city break or for an exhibition at koelnmesse. The staff are very good and helpful. The breakfast is excellent, probably one of the best I have had in Germany. I stayed for 5 days here with my wife and she found it to be an excellent base for shopping and visiting the sites etc.
Make sure you get a B&B deal as breakfast is €24 each otherwise. Shop around for deals as the hotel can be very expensive. The bar is absolutely dead in the week but comes alive at the weekend, especially Saturday night when the atmosphere is superb with good entertainment. The tram system is right outside the hotel and there are roadworks for the train system everywhere. I still found it easy to drive round the city.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July, the location is great for shopping, being just a short walk away from the 2 main shopping areas.
There are building works going on right in front of the Hotel for the underground trains which does cause some noise during the day but its quiet overnight which is the main thing.
The hotel has a Harrys bar on site but found it soul less and very expensive.
The rooms are a bit tired especially the huge old style tv but the bed was very comfortable, strange arrangement with the bathroom window but at least you could close the blind.
Breakfast was good but spread out over quite a large area. Didnt use the health club so cannot comment.
The staff are very helpful though.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the front of the hotel

A delightful hotel with great staff and extremely well located for tourism and work! I didn't get a chance to try out the wellness and pool but am sure it would been great. Can recommend it as it is nice and quiet despite the main road nearby.

Stayed three nights for short break in Cologne. Hotel is in good position, near to Altstadt, River Rhine and only 10 minutes walk from Main Railway Station and Cathedral.

We were upgraded to Executive room on 6th floor. Although extensive roadworks in front of Hotel, our room was quiet and peaceful. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Included breakfast buffet was fantastic. Have not seen such a variety other than on a cruise ship.

Only downside to Hotel is the swimming pool that is owned by an outside Health Club and it costs Hotel residents 15+ Euros per day just to swim. As a result, we did not use the pool.

Would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook Rive Rhine, although cannot be seen unless on a high floor.

Nothing special here! Costs another 15 euro daily to use a gym that can not be accessed very easily.
Very outdated rooms waaaay too small and the bathrooms have that stupid clear glass toilet- I just love watching someone sit on the toilet- freaking weird!
No drawers and get this, they still have circa 1990's large tube TV's- Ha.
Literally 1 (one) spot for one bag. Other bag placed on the chair in the room. Essentially a very tired design concept and not comfortable. Just checked in and looking forward to checking out already. Can you say high priced Hampton inn?

Room Tip: Ask for a cathedral view so you don't get a view of construction on the streets.

The only gripe I have with this place is the location. I am sure if you are here for a convention the location is perfect. With that said, I did walk to the DOM cathedral and around other parts of town (but I suggest a cab). There is not much around as far as restaurants or touristy stuff.
Once inside the hotel you are well taken care of. I was in my room and could not figure out my phone and had to go to the front desk to ask how to use it.
They had bikes in the lobby but they did not have the right information to rent them out. It would be great to ride around town on your bike from the front desk.

Pros:
Helpful concierge and staff in general, especially when I was ill.
Location, right at the south end of the main shopping strip, near Heumarkt.
Bar staff who know their stuff.

Cons:
Those annoying twin bed rooms - which means sleeping in a tiny bed. Nothing else was available due to a trade show which was quite annoying.
Wi-Fi - €24 for 24 hours which could only be used on one device!
Ridiculous food and beverage costs. I'm glad my €9 bottle of water came from Norway. Or the total bill of €25 for a bowl of chicken broth and 2 bottles of water.
Smoking area inside on the ground floor. Have we not moved on yet?
Those annoying fridges that auto-bill your room as soon as you move something. Heaven forbid I'd like to use a bit of the fridge for my own things!

Overal - not bad, in fact quite good. But a lot of improvements that could be made that would give a lot of enjoyment to more people and make the hotel more attractive.
