My husband and I feel we made a good choice in staying at the Burns Fair and More. At first, arriving at the hotel after a long train ride, long streetcar ride, and a walk of a few blocks, I thought it would be unmanageable -- after all, we were only in the city for a couple of days as tourists, and would need to use the hotel as a base for exploration. But we like riding streetcars, especially when they are as nice and as convenient as those in Cologne, and we don't mind a bit of a walk, either, so the location of this hotel, in the middle of a post-war housing development in a parklike setting, didn't bother us. These same factors might be off-putting to other travelers who would prefer a centrally located hotel with other activity nearby; but we thought, considering the shortage of well-priced, centrally located hotels, that it was a good choice. The hotel itself seems as though it might have been converted from an apartment building. The rooms were simply furnished and clean, and the staff were very friendly.

We stayed here for the 2nd time. We chose it for its location this time and free parking. It is close to the A3 motorway and our SatNav found it with no hassle.
All the normal car park spaces had gone when we arrived and I was concerned about leaving my car with 2 bikes on it overnight in a public area but the reception let me park it in one of the private spaces within eyesight of reception as it was a weekend and also I could see it from my room.
It is a bit out of town, 30 mins walk into Cologne through the Conference Area but there is a tram stop very close.
It is a good place to stay if you are attending a conference nearby or indeed an event at the Cologne Arena which is only 15 mins away or 2 tram stops.
The room was modern, spacious and clean. There was an extensive spread at breakfast, far better than normal tourist hotels.
I would always be happy to stay here as we love to walk and do not mind it being a bit further away from town.

Going to a trade show is Cologne and its hard to choose a hotel. We went back to an old standby. Tim the receiptionist was so helpful. We got a great clean room. On the quiet side. This hotel will not be for nightlife, or pools, or massages. It is a quick efficeint business hotel. A five minute walk to the tram that takes you into the city or walk to the Messe in 12 minutes. A local bakery , Schlecker are right outside the door and Lidl is one block away. Free parking and resonable internet rates.
The hotel does it once again. I will be back!

I stayed at this hotel for one week during a business trip and I shared a twin room with a colleague.
Really well the room cleaning, the room rate, the staff, the breakfast, the organization and the internet connection.
It should improve the beds (too small, colse and narrow), bath accessories (the handicap toillet was poor of shelves) and restaurant menu (no restaurants or store walking distance)
Best choise close to the fair in Cologne.

Only encountered two minor problems; the hotel has now changed it's name to "Burns Hotel" - the satnav took us directly to it but the name change caused a bit of confusion. Location isn't great, but a short walk to the tram stop (about 400 yards) and a short tram ride for a couple of euros each is better than 11 euros for a taxi - but between 4 of you the taxi ride would be favourite as it gets you into the city centre in about 10 minutes.
We went for the xmas markets and we weren't dissapointed. There was even free entertainment in the Dom market square in the evening - Garlic Mushrooms & Bratwurst, washed down with a few mugs of Gluewein & Rum - Great night out!
Everwhere was very clean and the people very friendly. Only other downside is the exchange rate - everything is rather expensive.

My girlfriend suprised me with a weekend away in Cologne for my birthday in late September this year and told me that we were staying in a hotel rated in the top 20 for hotels in Cologne!!! Wahoo!!!

However, the excitement soon turned to apprehension when we checked to see where the hotel was and found that it is located well away from the town centre. Obviously someone had got caught up in the hotels rating and not researched the basics ;) Well it was fair to say that we made a meal of finding the hotel, it is located very randomly in the middle of a housing estate in a residential area on the outskirts of Cologne, with very little signage to tell you where to look. But once the worst was over we soon settled into our holiday and i gotta say we had a GREAT time.

Other than its location the hotel is very good....very clean, excellent service, lovely ensuite bedroom, one of the best hotel breakfasts ive had, and in its defence there is an U-bahn (tram) stop on the main road a minutes walk away from the hotel so once you get your bearings it is very easy to get in and out of Cologne.

Cologne itself is a wonderful little place and the Germans were a lot nicer than everyone kept telling me before i went! The only real tourist attraction is the cathedral (which is draw dropping everytime you see it) and the old town. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, loads of shops, and the nightlife was pretty good.

I recommend Cologne to anyone, and i would recommend the hotel too but im sure you could find plenty that are located closer to town.
