Our room was nice, the swimming pool and jacuzzi great, and there is a little bar/cafe you can eat in with your robe on. The staff was nice too. We arrived in Cologne on a very hot day with the temperature well into the 90's and found that none of the room have a/c. They did bring up an electric fan which I kept on all night right next to the bed. In the morning the breakfast-4.5 Euros and good with scrambled eggs and bacon offered along with the usual-was in the spa cafe and it isn't air conitioned either. The room was very uncomfortably hot and we sweated through our breakfast. The location of the hotel isn't the greatest in my opinion. It was a long walk to the old section of the city and the area around the river looked really great.

Lovely hotel within walking distance of the main shopping area, Cathedral and Christmas Markets. Good sized rooms with free access to the spa facilities for hotel guests. Bathrobes, towels and slippers can be hired for 5 euros a set for use in the spa. Freen locker key on request from reception. Warning to those unused to spas in Germany, this is a clothes free zone and kids ARE allowed - so worth bearing that in mind if you are not comfortable baring all.

Some noise from nearby pub/club on the Saturday evening - easily solved by spending the evening in the spa.

Spa facilities include at least 6 saunas (varying temperatures, humidity and scents - including one ladies only), a steam room, a large, warm endless pool to swim in, various jacuzzis (hot and cold), foot baths, a hot/cold pebble walk and the best of all.....a heated, salt water pool with the roof open to the sky (I spent 2 hours in that on our last night!)

Staff were helpful and friendly, rooms spaceous and clean with plenty of sockets. Large flat screen TV and minibar. Bed was the usual 2 mattress German style with 2 single quilts - which made for a really good night's sleep.

Bathroom was clean and functional with a wet room style shower rather than an enclosure, good anti slip flooring and good quality toiletries included.

No kettle or tea and coffee making facilities but that was not an issue as neither hubby or myself use those. Wireless internet ddn't work in our room either - but did in the lobby so no great loss there as there were plenty of comfy seats available to use.

Womderful midday checkout so we were able to sleep in after a long, relaxing evening in the spa.

Would we go back? Definitely, in fact I've just booked our next visit in February!

We travelled to Cologne and were told by German friends that we had to experience a spa, as Germans love their thermes. Having forgotten to pack swimwear, we chose the Mauritiius as it was the only spa we could find where nudity is compulsory, which suited us fine.. Despite being British, we are not prudish about our own nakedness thankfully.

Having had a long day schlepping around the various tourist attractions and a few of the shops, we pottered to the Mauritius Hotel, which is located centrally, just 5 minutes walk from Neumarkt tram stop. The receptionist was very friendly and for a small fee, loaned us towels, dressing gowns and slippers to wear. It may be a nude spa, but you will need them in the spa for periods of rest.

The changing rooms are mixed, but that's not an issue as we noticed they tend to separate sexes into areas. It was clean and the lockers were very large, enough to take our coats, clothes and the few items we had bought along the way.

Once in the therme itself, it's set out into a small village of sauna rooms, steam rooms, whirlpools, a larger (but not huge) pool indoors and a smaller outdoor salt water pool that was so warm, I didn't want to get out of it. There are also rest areas a-plenty and a cafe/restaurant, should you want to eat; hence the need for dressing gowns.

The minimum stay was for up to 4 hours and the time whizzed by. I could have stayed for longer. The mix in there was about 70% males/30% females on the day we went, but it felt very relaxed. A female member of staff sauntered around the area on occasions, but was inconspicuous and as a man, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all with this. The rooms and pools were immaculate and the atmosphere in the place was quiet and restful.

Etiquette does dictate a dress code of sorts. The sauna requires you to take a towel in to sit/lay on, the steam room requires total nudity and the pools do allow you to wear a bathing costume, although no-one did on the day we visited. When resting in the area, it is considered correct to wear your dressing gown, although if you wish to remain totally uncovered, no-one would mind.

In summary, I loved this place. As a person who is not often naked in public, it gave me a sense of freedom, of being at ease with myself and my body in a non sexual environment. I don't have the greatest self esteem in the world (it's not bad, but could do with a nudge now and then) and this place helped me relax not just because of the healing and restorative powers of the heat/waters, but in allowing me to cast off the shackles of my outerwear and strip myself back to what's underneath. If you're thinking of taking the plunge and are a little nervous, you would do well to give this place a try........and if you've seen it all and done it all before, then I would heartily recommend this place.

Great Spa in this hotel - if you are looking for a spa break, I would recommend this hotel - not recommended for business non-spa trips, as guests walk around hotel in bathrobes - might be weird if you are in a suit!

Note: everyone is naked (!) in the spa bit, men & women - if that is not your idea of relaxing spa, this place may not be for you (it is mandatory to be naked as well - very German!)

Only weird thing: bathroom floor it PVC - strange... rooms otherwise spacious, bed comfortable, and all was clean! Staff was friendly!

Location feels a bit back street but every thing is not so far. Parking if you have a big car is off site in a local Parkhaus. The spa facilities are great but you have to be naked for the pools, different saunas and jacuzzis, very liberating though! Overall its expensive but enjoyable. The gym area is very limited.

excellent hotel and therme in the city center of cologne, close to rudolpplatz, nice shopping areas. many nice bars, cafes and discos close to the hotel
I have stayed at this hotel 3 times.

The hotel rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. however, they are not 5 star quality, but trust me, they are very comfortable.

The nicest part with the hotel is the spa area. as a hotel guest you can enter this area for free. it consist of a large pool, spa, several saunas, steam baths, ourside pool and etc.
In the complex there is also a very nice little restaurant.

Spa area is VERY clean and attractive. You always bring your towel with you to the sauna to sit on, even place your feet on......
The spa area is a no clothing area.... no exeptions.......
