Stayed here 3 nights during recent trip to Germany for Christmas markets. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train station, across the bridge to the back of the train station. The same bridge that the trains come in over the river from is the bridge you cross to get to the hotel. The hotel is located right on the waterfront on the far side of the river from the station. We paid 202 euro a night for a standard room.

The hotel has a very nice and warm lobby. We had no issues checking in, aside from having only 1 of our 2 rooms ready. The room we had was nice enough. It had a flat screen TV and a large bathroom with a rain shower, which was very nice. We had a room on the side of the hotel so we did not have a view of the water...well, we had a partial view, but very partial. The bed was comfortable, although some of the pillows were not very comfortable.

The club lounge is on the 7th floor, which is where the club rooms are. It is a little odd, as the lounge is really an open area right at the entrance to the floor from the elevator. You step off the elevator and you are instantly in the club area, which consists of a table and counterspace where the food/drinks are, and then a little area where you can sit, which is kind of seperated by some bookshelves. The lounge was satisfactory. We had breakfast there every day and they had an assortment of breads, cold cuts, yogurt, and some hot sausages. In the evening there were drinks as well as canapes. There is also 1 computer available in the corner for use for internet/email etc. The lounge has a great view overlooking the river and cathedral, which is very nice.

The location is good as long as you do not mind about a 15 minute walk across the bridge. However, the main sights like the Cathedral are right on the other side, so once you cross the bridge, you pretty much have the train station, the cathedral, the roman museum and a few other sights right at your fingertips.

We did use the spa on site to sit in the hot tub a little, which was HUGELY disappointing. The hot tub was tepid at BEST. We honestly had to go back to the room and take a hot shower just to warm back up after trapsing wet through the lobby. In all truth the hot tub was not even hot at all...it was truly "warm". Big disappointment, but we figure it may be possible they keep it at a very "safe" level for liability.

Overall, we had a great stay and it was an excellent hotel. At almost 300 US with the exchange, it was not a steal but it was on the higher end of what I would consider fair. I would stay there again.

Excellent stay with our 3 year old who was welcomed by all staff including at dinner in Glashaus restaurant. Close enough to walk from Deutze Messe station and closest U bahn is about 5 minutes walk, this line takes you right to the heart of the city.

View amazing from hotel.
Breakfast very good, except main restaurant area invariably full as this has the best views, in overflow area we felt a little isolated.
Nice to be able to use pool and was not busy, so could relax.

Imperfections:
Check in not good as room not ready on time - travelling with toddler this was not appreciated.
Room service menus had been written on by previous guests. Bathroom robe for our 3 year old had to be requested even though hotel knew her age, they had provided an adult robe.
Bathroom scale not working.
Taxis tended to park and block off entrance when dropping guest off.
No free wifi although business centre was free and open 24 hours

Room Tip: Choose a room with Rhine view and pay supplement for a high floor ( floor 5)

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of December and had a fantastic stay. The hotel has great, modern decor and the rooms were spacious with a huge, comfy bed! We paid for a bed and breakfast rate and were so glad we did as breakfast was great! Huge selection and the freshly made pancakes were delicious! Staff were helpful, although at first they did seem slightly abrupt, they were happy to help with directions / confirming train times etc. The location is great, about a 10 minute walk across the bridge to the Dom. The area seemed safe and we had no worries about walking back to the hotel late at night. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room with a river view (although these seem to book up early so get in quick...

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. As a family of five including two young children, city breaks abroad are a rarity these days. We wanted to visit the Christmas markets in Germany and Cologne was recommended. The next challenge for me was finding a hotel that would hopefully make our stay all that more special.

Firstly, I must say that we were glad that we chose Cologne, a wonderful city that caters for both adults and children alike. If you are travelling with children, make sure that you also visit the Zoo, absolutely wonderful.

Secondly, our weekend away was without doubt made all the more special by our stay at the Hyatt Regency. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, the staff could not have been more friendly towards us. The level of service throughout the hotel was impeccable. For example we arrived at the Glashaus restaurant one evening without a booking and they still managed to squeeze us in even though it was clearly very busy. The restaurant staff were extremely attentive to our requirements however not overly invasive. They also made our children feel especially welcome and were even able to cater for some specific dietary requirements without any fuss whatsoever. Incidentally, the food was also excellent during our stay and I include in this the breakfast buffet which is quite possibly the best I've ever experienced.

We have stayed in many hotels over the years of all sizes and grades and I have to say that our stay at the Hyatt Regency is quite possibly the best thus far. If other high end hotel chains want to improve their modus operandi then they should pay a visit to the Hyatt Regency in Cologne and watch how it's done! Superb.

Stayed here last weekend to see xmas markets which were well worth the long drive from England. Perfect location ,5 min walk into town.
Friendly staff, Lovely big rooms and huge beds, clean tidy and very quiet.

We parked under the nearby bridge for just 4 euro for 24 hours, much cheaper than 21 for the hotel parking.

Room Tip: You can pay extra for a river view, would be nice if you can afford it.

We had an amazing weekend at this hotel. Great view, very good and friendly service. Because the hotel was full we got a free upgrade for the premium rooms. Welness was very satisfying. Breakfast was huge and good. Only minor thing was the waiting for a place to sit.

My family and I stayed here during carnival and it proved to be an excellent location and choice. We actually didn't realize carnival was going on and was there to see the cathedral but it turned out to be the best decision. Cologne was very busy at this time but you couldn't tell it from the hotel. It still maintained the quiet environment we wanted. We didn't have a room with a view of the river or cathedral but the rooms were still excellent. The rooms with the view looked amazing but were more than we wanted to spend. They would have probably been cheaper if we hadn't stayed during the festival so if you can get one of those rooms, absolutely do it. The views from the hotel were excellent and the location was perfect. We simply walked out of the hotel and had beautiful photo shots. Then you can simply walk across the bridge to the cathedral and downtown Cologne. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Cologne.

Room Tip: The rooms were very quiet but the best rooms would be the ones with the views of the river and cathe...
