Stayed here 3 nights during recent trip to Germany for Christmas markets. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train station, across the bridge to the back of the train station. The same bridge that the trains come in over the river from is the bridge you cross to get to the hotel. The hotel is located right on the waterfront on the far side of the river from the station. We paid 202 euro a night for a standard room.
The hotel has a very nice and warm lobby. We had no issues checking in, aside from having only 1 of our 2 rooms ready. The room we had was nice enough. It had a flat screen TV and a large bathroom with a rain shower, which was very nice. We had a room on the side of the hotel so we did not have a view of the water...well, we had a partial view, but very partial. The bed was comfortable, although some of the pillows were not very comfortable.
The club lounge is on the 7th floor, which is where the club rooms are. It is a little odd, as the lounge is really an open area right at the entrance to the floor from the elevator. You step off the elevator and you are instantly in the club area, which consists of a table and counterspace where the food/drinks are, and then a little area where you can sit, which is kind of seperated by some bookshelves. The lounge was satisfactory. We had breakfast there every day and they had an assortment of breads, cold cuts, yogurt, and some hot sausages. In the evening there were drinks as well as canapes. There is also 1 computer available in the corner for use for internet/email etc. The lounge has a great view overlooking the river and cathedral, which is very nice.
The location is good as long as you do not mind about a 15 minute walk across the bridge. However, the main sights like the Cathedral are right on the other side, so once you cross the bridge, you pretty much have the train station, the cathedral, the roman museum and a few other sights right at your fingertips.
We did use the spa on site to sit in the hot tub a little, which was HUGELY disappointing. The hot tub was tepid at BEST. We honestly had to go back to the room and take a hot shower just to warm back up after trapsing wet through the lobby. In all truth the hot tub was not even hot at all...it was truly "warm". Big disappointment, but we figure it may be possible they keep it at a very "safe" level for liability.
Overall, we had a great stay and it was an excellent hotel. At almost 300 US with the exchange, it was not a steal but it was on the higher end of what I would consider fair. I would stay there again.
