“A gem of a bistro”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

We were looking for somewhere to eat and were lucky enough to come across this small bistro/restaurant and decided to call in. The atmosphere was friendly and cosy and was very busy but we managed to find a couple of seats on a table next to others. We ordered a couple of Kolsch beers each and the calves liver. The food arrived quickly, the liver was cooked to perfection and the accompanying mashed potatoes were delicious. We had a small carafe of local red wine and finished off with schnapps. The bill for the two of us came to 52 euro which we thought was very reasonable. The food and service were excellent and the waiter extremely friendly and helpful. A lovely dining experience and would recommend.

“Fantastic traditional pub/restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012

We went to Cologne at the end of November and we found this little traditional pub on our first night. We enjoyed Goulash with potatoes and a lovely salad and a Schnitzel with paprika sauce, chips and salad. Also plent of the local lager, Koelsch. The atmosphere was lovely and they were pleased that we tried out our limited german. We enjoyed the meal so much and were impressed with the price that we booked a table for the following night. We were welcomed back on our second night and this time we enjoyed a plain schnitzel with chips and salad and a schnitzel with a very good mushroom sauce with chips and salad. Yet again we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere (and beer!) so we decided to book for our final night. This time we had roast pork, bread dumplings and sauerkraut and a steak with chips and salad. The chips were really good and the salad had a delicious dressing. We really enjoyed all our meals at this lovely pub and wished we had stayed in Cologne longer to try out the rest of the menu!! I would recommend this to anyone and if we ever go back to Cologne we will definitely eat here. It is advisable to book a table as it can get busy, you can call in at lunchtime and book for that evening.

“An unassuming gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

We ate outside this small restaurant round the corner from the cathedral on the first night of our stay. The food was fairly basic fare but perfectly cooked and I agree with a previous reviewer's comments about the mash. The service couldn't have been friendlier and the final bill was reasonable considering how close it is to the cathedral. The atmosphere was far more relaxed than some of the surrounding places. Highly recommended.

“Typical Koln eats”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2012

A small restaurant round the corner from the Cathedral with excellent friendly service and excellent reasonably priced menu with excellent local dishes try the calves liver or the Cologne caviar both excellent with the bet and most buttery potato puree I have ever tasted.Th wine list is short and very reasonably priced and the Spatburgunder both white and red were excellent. We came upon it by chance and ended up going there each evening of our stay
