Was recommended this restaurant by some colleagues who were visiting for a trade show. Best recommendation for a long time. Some of the finest food Ive ever eaten. The cod starter, pork belly and poppy ice cream were not only incredibly delicious but well presented supplied with efficient and super service. The restaurant atmosphere was good despite being quiet and the location is perfectly central. Would visit this restaurant again if in Koln. Actually i will visit again even if i am not in Koln!

Had two meals at this excellent restaurant during a business week spent in Cologne. Imaginative, very well prepared "New Austrian" cuisine. A very sleek, bright, modern space a 3 minute walk from the Kommerz Hotel (therefore 3 1/2 minutes from the central train station). All soups/meats/fish/desserts were wonderful. Very attentive service. Reservations a must. a very pleasant change from the heavier (but delicious!) local cuisine which Cologne is famous for.

I agree with all the good things said about this restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere are wonderful. The wine list is, obviously, a good read!

But I wanted to add that I am a vegetarian and there are no vegetarian dishes on the menu. Despite this, the chef made for me the most wonderful vegetarian version of the dishes that my colleagues were eating. It was delicious and special and much appreciated.

Everything about our meal was fantastic - the food, the wine, the service, the ambience, and very good value for money. We had the 5 course surprise menu - this isn't simply a series of courses off the main menu but rather, dishes that the chef feels like making that evening. We put ourselves completely in the chef's hands and thoroughly enjoyed every single dish. Each was well designed with beautiful and interesting flavours that were unique but not overly done or fussy. Each wine was absolutely perfectly matched and it was a great opportunity to try wines we would never get back home. One of the nicest facets of the evening was the service. We're tired of spending 4 hours every night over dinner so we asked ahead of time if it was possible to have the surprise menu but paced a bit faster. And they absolutely delivered. We never felt like we were waiting too long but we had plenty of time to enjoy each dish with wine. Another point is that each dish isn't simply a couple of bits of food - each one is the right size to allow you to enjoy all 5 courses without leaving overly full or hungry. The 5th course was cheese which was extra special for us as we were able to try a number of German cheeses (including one with mustard seeds) that again, we couldn't easily get at home. A nice bonus - the dress is casual! :) A fantastic night and I truly recommend this restaurant for any traveller who appreciates great food and wine in a relaxed, fun environment.

This is a splendid wine bar with an excellent kitchen. They keep two dozen wines available by the glass (from 4 to 6 euros, depending), perfect for tasting. The menu is interesting and very well prepared. I had the modestly priced (49 euro) "surprise" tasting menu and each plate was delicious - worthy of a top restaurant anywhere in the world. Excellent service in English and German, though a bit slow when the restaurant was crowded.
The restaurant is behind the train station/hauptbanhopf (not on the Cathedral side), near the Marriott Hotel. It looks quite modern ... and it is.
