“A good example of an old fashioned zoo”
Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

Plenty of interesting and rare animals, the elephant enclosure being the star in my opinion.
Only one concern is that the enclosures are quite small for the animals but not what you wouldn't expect from an inner city zoo. But the animals are clearly well looked after.
The sheer variety of animals makes it worth a visit.

“snowy zoo day”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

We went to the zoo with four adults and two children, it snowed all day but was still very pleasant. Many of the animals were in their inside habitat due to weather, but that gave us a break from the cold so it was welcomed! I was just a little disappointed that we didn't see the leopards or the lions... but they must have been hiding away somewhere out of the cold. the price of 15.0eu per adult and 7.00eu per child was a great value. The only downside: the restaurant left much to be desired but I didn't expect much more from a cafeteria style restaurant. We loved this trip and will be back in the spring/summer!

“Enjoyable even in the rain!”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

When you can enjoy an outdoors day out in the rain you know it must be a good thing!
Excellent Elephant enclosure, we spent ages Elephant watching - its a very natural environment.
We traveled with our three young children and there are many play areas and safe zones for them, kept them occupied on the longer walks between animal enclosures.
Easy to navigate (English signage could be better, but hey, this isn't London!) - food and drinks very reasonably priced.
If you travel here in any season other than summer bring waterproofs!
Cable car just outside and should absolutely be combined for a great day out!

“Best Zoo I have seen”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

What a wonderful array of animals! They are beautifully presented and in very well thought out confines. They have anteaters, hippos, all the cats, elephants, a horde of different birds, reptiles.....you could spend days here. The food is excellent as well, and caters for vegetarians. Don't miss it.

“Wonderful zoo”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

My friend and I spent several hours at the zoo last Friday and it was a wonderful day. It's very easily accessible by the subway and is only a couple of minutes walk from the Zoo stop. The zoo is easy to navigate too (not like some zoos where you wander around wondering which way to go). We saw a red panda, an adorable baby tapir, scary crocodiles, elephants, snow leopards, and many other wonderful animals. If you love animals, this is a great way to spend an afternoon in Cologne.
