taku is located on an underground floor of the Excelsior Hotel Ernst.
The design is clean and sophisticated, with simple lines, dark wood tables and beige natural stone floors. As an added touch, there is a little glass-covered "stream" at the entrance with goldfish swimming in it. A glass catwalk leads into the main dining area, but be careful and watch your step, there are no handrails and lighting is on the dim side.
Food was pricey - but very good. We had sushi and sashimi for starters which were excellent, and Wagyu Beef as a main course, which was very nice. The starters weren't on the menu but after a quick check with the chef, he agreed to make a special order for us. While we waited for our starters, the kitchen made sure the wait was bearable by sending us not one but two different amuse-gueules, which were absolutely wonderful.
It is this kind of service attitude that makes all the difference.
Service is basically very good - very accommodating and friendly, but since it was a busy night they also seemed a bit nervous or even stressed at times.
All-in-all very recommended for business lunch or dinner.
