“Boston Fish Buffet”

We were staying at the Hilton over the week end and saw that their Konrad restaurant was in the top 15 restaurants in Cologne.
We were originally told the fish buffet was fully booked. We later spoke to the restaurant manager who said that he could actually book us in for the buffet at a later sitting (8:30). We were happy to do so. However when we arrived and went up for the starters we found empty serving dishes and a poor selection left. It looked if they had had been a swarm of locusts pass through. We asked if the dishes were to be replenished and told they should be. However not even the bread was refilled. We spoke with the buffet manager and pointed out that although the choice of fish for the course was OK the dishes for the accomplimentng vegetables were all empty when our fish was cooked. I must say that the veg was refilled. We spoke to the manager again and pointed out we were ready for dessert but again there was poor choice. He argued that this was not the case but when he went round with my wife to the buffet he had to admit the dishes had been replaced and it looked a mess. He asked us what we wanted to put it right and he went away to get us individual desserts. But what we really wanted was him to admit that this wasn't up to their usual standards. Because if this was the normal state of the buffet at 8:30 pm then I don't understand how they are in the top 15 reviews. Unfortunately the manager was not prepared to accept that we had poor service and a poor experience. If he had we wouldn't have been quite so upset with the situation. We were still more fortiunate than the other diner we saw who had to set his own table for himself and his wife. Maybe we caught them on an off night, but we'll never know as the manager thought everything was perfectly acceptable.

“Excellent breakfast”

Very comprehensive breakfast buffet and the Friday night "Boston Fish Market" (why not Wilhelmshaven--it is Germany?!) buffet also excellent. Service prompt, efficient and the waitress was cute (dimples and red hair!).

“Perfect Food”

We had dinner during the anuga fair in the Restaurant Konrad with a Group of 10 people. The staff is extremly friendly and helpful. (We had no Reservation for the Dinner but the Girl at the entrance arranged a nice table for us) The Food was perfect ans fresh.

“Slow Service - Beware!”

I was with a group of 6 people for dinner at this restaurant on October 5th. We were probably the first people in the restaurant and arrived around 6:30/6:45. Over three hours later we still had not received the dessert we ordered and the waiter(s) had not come out to apologize. We complained to management on two occasions. We got up and walked out, paid our bill at the door and they still had the desserts we ordered but never received on the bill!

The meal was OK but not up to par for the cost you pay. In fact, my entree was not even hot which indicated to me that it had been sitting for a while. i would have expected better for a restaurant in a Hilton Hotel.

Several other patrons in the restaurant were complaining about the slow service....so this was not just us. Not sure where the manager was but he should do a better job of making sure the patrons are taken care of.......

“Seafood buffet and set menu - both excellent”

The first night we ate here we ended up with the fish buffet, which is excellent both in terms of quality and quantity. We were convinced to have this rather than the a la carte once the lovely waitress (I wish I could remember her name as she deserves a special mention), showed us what was on offer. You can even have oysters, so if, like us, you have never had one before, this is a good chance to test it and there is plenty of other seafood to wash it down with, if you are not a fan... The second night we had a 'set' three course meal. You have a choice of 3-4 dishes, which we assumed would be a slightly smaller version of the a la carte version, but that is not the case. The portions were just right and all of them delicious. The two evenings were very different, but what they had in common were the great food and excellent service.
