We had dinner at Le Petit Poisson in Bonn several times with friends and family. The place looks nice and the service and food were good until last time, when we got food poisoning. Being regular customers, we thought the chef would want to know what happened and control the quality of the food being served at the moment. We called to report the issue, making clear from the start that we wanted no compensation but only to avoid any unfortunate incidents happening to other customers. As a response, all the friendliness displayed during our stays at the restaurant disappeared. The chef became unfriendly and denied all responsibility in an unreasonable manner. She insisted that food in her restaurant could only be perfect and even said that, in the event it had been the wine, she could not accept any responsibility for this, as wine is sold in closed bottles, which she cannot control. Sadly, we will have to look for another place to dine and can only recommend that other customers do the same.

Very nice place, fine details, frendly staff and exiting food. The rabbit starter was outstanding!

On a tip from the hotel concierge we made our way to Le Petit Poisson for a break from usual hearty German fare. The restaurant was small but inviting with just hints of Christmas decoration. We were a bit surprised that the menu was only available in German and hand written making it doubly difficult - French menu items in German script..

The only word we recognized was octopus so we selected, with help from the English speaking Maitre'D, the fixed price menu that included the octopus salad, a lovely selection of fresh fish and a wonderful dessert plate.

The salad was a generous potion of octopus with mango and orange sauce. The main course included four pleasantly sized portions of fresh fish. The most unexpected component of our meal was the dessert plate which included servings of creme brullee, chocolate lava cake, pistachio ice cream, and a raspberry mousse. Magnifique!

The meal was not inexpensive but worth every penny. New foods, new wines (there was an extensive wine list but we stayed with the house selection), and a new favorite restaurant in Bonn.

Excellent seafood, nice atmosphere (though not particularly fancy), superb staff, all-around great place. While there were no English-language menus and the hand-written German was not easy to read, the wait staff got us through it and made great recommendations. Even steered us toward a local Rhine wine on the low-end of the price scale that complemented our fish dishes very nicely. If you are looking for a quick, in-and-out bite, this is not the place. But, if you want an evening of superb food at an enjoyable pace, waited on by a staff that takes care of you, this is a place for you. Particularly good for a business meal or, if you get tucked into a corner, a romantic night out.
