“Clean, Comfortable, and Quaint”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Sebastianushof welcomed me and my boyfriend (no problem with homosexuals, it would seem) for two nights in September 2013. The amenities weren't posh, but everything was comfortable and clean, breakfast was delicious (eggs, toast, coffee or tea, meats, cheeses, yogurt, etc.), and the adjoining gasthaus/restaurant offered a great meal with a cozy traditional German ambience. Not too busy when we went, though it would be great for families. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for non-smoking, if that applies. Also, couples should ask for a "doppelbett...

The hotel is quite a ways up the hill from the town center of Bonn-Bad Godesberg.
I picked it because of an event at the Godesburg, which is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

The hotel is right across the road from a major construction site fitted with a huge crane, where they seem to be building a new house. Subsequently, the noise level starts to go up quite drastically at around 7AM. Throughout the night, noise from the street was relatively minor (not a lot of traffic).

The window however, looks just like the ones my grandmother had in her house, and those were from the 70’s. The noise abatement from the window is close to nil.

The bed is comfortable enough and you’re supplied a full-size and a half-size pillow, which is nice (I happen to be a fan of half-size pillows).

The bathroom is functional (no more!), though the drain in the shower was stopped up and quite obviously, no one had filled the siphon of the floor drain in a while, as the room reeked of sewage gas. Two glasses of water in the siphon and all was well. I always wonder just why on earth the guests always have to take care of something like that.

Breakfast is quite ok, with scrambled eggs as the “hot food”.

All in all, an ok place to stay, but at €75 (+€8 for breakfast) a couple of notches too expensive for the quality and the location.

Room Tip: Room 12 is right across the construction site - not to be recommended

This hotel was a life-saver: I needed a place to stay and called the morning of, and they kindly provided me with the downstairs room and its adjoining bathroom.
The only thing: this hotel is not in Bonn itself; it is a short train ride and an even shorter bus ride or stroll from Bonn; I am usually wary of having to use buses and the possible complciations, but getting to this hotel is no problem, and the people along the way are very friendly and more than happy to help. (I asked at Bonn's Tourist Office and got directions and a bus schedule from them, which helped).
The room was the perfect size for one person and was very comfortable. There was an old radio in the room and I figured out how to make it work, and I listened to some music and some German news. (I don't speak German, but it was neat to hear anyways). The adjoining bathroom was huge. Everything was clean and cozy, very comfortable.
I had dinner at the restaurant upstairs; the waitress was super nice and the locals came in and out for a pre-dinner drink and gossip at the bar. It was really neat to observe. Try the French onion soup--it was deeeelicious.
Breakfast was buffet-style in the other upstairs room, and it was SO good. So many choices, all of them super good. The usual German cold meats and cheeses, along with breads, cereals and muselis, all kinds of drinks, and even things like oatmeal I believe. The perfect place to start the day right!
Bonn-Bad Godesberg, the town where the hotel is located, is beautiful and very neighborhoodly, with everyone very friendly; I found that everyone, including the bus driver, looked after me discreetly, which was nice. Some things go beyond words. There is a chateau in the town which is a popular sight, and Bonn is an easy and inexpensive trip by train (just a few stops).
