After reading good reviews in the Bonn Restaurant Guide, we decided to try out this restaurant. It is located in a villa near the Post Tower and the River Rhine, but is certainly not in a touristy area. We were there on a Saturday evening and, since it was beautiful weather, we opted for a table on the terrace overlooking a nice garden. Although the terrace and some of the tables inside were full, the waiters had everything under control and we were served very professionally.
There was an à la carte and an evening menu which sounded delicious but was more than we wanted to eat. We noticed that the menu included a lot of seasonal produce which is exactly what we prefer. Our starters were delicious (carpaccio and a summer salad with an excellent sauce). We both chose veal steaks on a bed of porcini mushrooms for our main course. The porcini were fantastic and the steaks melt-in-the-mouth tender – a wonderfully light summer meal.
The wine list was good. The glass of prosecco we had as an aperitif was fresh and nicely chilled. We did not eat dessert but simply finished our meal with an espresso. When we asked for the bill we were offered a glass of champagne on the house as we had mentioned it was our wedding anniversary when making the reservation. Since we were there for the very first time, we found this an extremely nice gesture.
We had a very enjoyable evening. The food was excellent and freshly prepared, the service totally professional. We will certainly be back.
