We got invited by a couple of friends for a nice dinner in Aachen. From the outside it looks like a very small restaurant with only a few tables. However, as we entered we were lead towards the back of the restaurant where many more tables can be found. Part of it actually looked like a winter garden. The interior was very stylish and set immediately a nice atmosphere.
Everyone of us took the three course menu. As a starter I had the classic carpaccio with lemon mayonnaise, rocket and roasted pumpkin seed. As I said, a classic but nevertheless very well done and tasty. The others had the pumpkin soup with prawn and blackened beef filet which was according to them also delicious. This was followed by a small greeting from the kitchen, octopus with a rice salad and marinated red onions, yammy.
The main course was less divers since everybody took the iberico pork with a mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes. The pork was a little it fatty, but in my opinion this only added to the good taste of meat and didn't let it go dry. After that we received another greeting from the kitchen, a pear sorbet with a nice sauce. For dessert I had a tropical strudel, filled with bananas, pineapples and mango accompanied by mango sorbet. While the strudel ok, the sorbet was to die for.
During our whole stay the waiters were very friendly, taking really good care of us, refilling our water when need.
In sum, a very pleasant stay with amazing food. Definitely a must go in Aachen.
