“Beautiful but busy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

The afternoon we visited this beautiful and well preserved cathedral we were very impressed by the grandure and decoration of the inside of the building. Unfortunately there was some restoration being done so it was rather noises outside.
Another good thing was for only 50 cents ere was a guide to the cathedral's main artefacts. Great value.
If we return to Aachen I would visit in the morning - very crowded and noisy in the afternoos

“This is one of the must see Cathedrals!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

This place is like a dream come true. There is much more to it than just a cathedral. The feeling when you go inside is so special! It doesn't look too unique on the outside but the architecture, decoration and light inside is one of a kind. I am not an architect and I don't know much about architecture, but there is something special to this cathedral. It looks and feels as if it were not out of this world!

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

My first Cathedrral in Germany, and I found it to be stunning and well worth the visit. There is no charge either, and the paintwork and marble inside has to be seen to be believed. We spent about an hour or so going slowly through it - and then wandered out into the courtyard and into the shop. The whole area is influenced by the Dom, and there are plenty of curios to buy. A must see if you are in the area. Another thing I found amazing in Aachen is half =way through the town, you suddenly leave Germany and enter the Netherlands! Our Satnav suddenly told us that Border Control forbids us to take this, that and the other thing into the The Netherlands, and vice versa when we left.

“Don't judge a book by it's cover”

From the outside it doesn't look like much and we almost didn't go in. But I am so glad we did! It's the most beautiful man-made place I've ever been!

“Unmissable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2014

If you're in Aachen you simply have to visit the Cathedral. The ancient octagonal section is superb, and leads on to a beautiful Gothic nave similar to Ste Chapelle in Paris. You'll have to pay to get on to a German only tour to see Charlemagne's 'throne' and to get up close to the stunning reliquaries - but it's not expensive.
