“Inspirational”

What faith must have forged the desire to create so beautiful a structure. The details and beauty are breathtaking. I could have spent all day exploring the intricacies. It was also a wonderful place to rest for a bit and pray - just sitting down inside brings an inner serenity which is difficult to describe! Plus, for those history buffs out there, you get to see Charlemagne's shrine and the over 1000 year old architecture.

“Breathetaking Attraction”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

Wow, this cathedral is over 1200 years old and is well worth the trip as you realize that the octagonal dome is all mosaic tiles - an architectural genius with stained glass windows and many wonderful treasures like Charlemagne's shrine.

“Extremely interesting”

A spectacular and very ornate and interesting interior to this wonderful Cathedral. Very well worth a visit even if you are a casual visitor without any particular interest in the history of the cathedral.

“Worth the trip”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

This Dom on its own justifies a trip to Aachen. It's completely different from other cathedrals.
Roman style arches, impressive mosaics on the ceilings, stained glass quite different from anywhere else.
Style attributes on the ceilings and on the arches reminded me of mudejar or even arab influences. But that must be coincidence in this part of Europe.

“Good day tour option from Cologne”
Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

Came to visit the cathedral from Cologne by car (I would use train next time, it's actually faster and less stressful). The cathedral is worth the trouble. The second you step in you will be amazed by the decoration inside. I highly recommend people to join the guided tour, you can get the ticket from the information centre and the English tour is on 2pm. The guide is very knowledgable and will explain to you the meanings of the construction of the church and the hidden symbols inside the cathedral. You will also be able to go up to the first floor to see Charlemagne's throne and take a close look if Charlemagne's shrine. Don't forget to visit the Treasury afterward, you'll be amazed by the amount of treasure this cathedral holds.
