“A trip to the future!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This place is incredible, one might argue it is a glorified showroom, but the futuristic design, the attractions and the car museum are just incredible.

When you first go in you get to visit the Company display, not much inspiring, although they do have some really cutting edge museum display techniques (esp. the artificial intelligence program that talks you up). But the most interesting in that bit is the green energy and solutions exhibition. The brainstorming device (mountain, with idea rivers etc.) was impressive, so where the different hi-tech displays.

After that you can visit the oldtimer museum where some gems from the auto industry history are on display, esp some of the oldest cars like the first car by Benz! and some gorgeous Cadillacs and Bentleys.

After that you can visit the different pavilions, the most interesting by far was the Audi pavilion with its futuristic and hi tech displays.

The storage towers are amazing, definitely worth the extra ticket. You get to see some feats of German engineering at work.

Other activities which I didn't have time to try where driving the electric car and to take a drive around their test ring, both of which were probably highly exciting.

Plan for at least 4-5 hours and have comfortable shoes for all the walking.. Fun for all the family.

“Car Heaven”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We took an ICE train from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Wolfsburg. This was a 1.5 hour trip arriving at the Autostadt at 10.00am. Having little knowledge of German language we were pleased to find all signage had alternative English instructions. We were greeted at the entrance by an English speaking receptionist. We were informed that they had no English speaking guides that day - it was a Saturday. However as we wondered around we found sufficient security staff that spoke English to keep us guided. Various presentations, 3D movies, active displays but above all VW's and cars everywhere. Anyone who appreciates motor vehicles or engineering will be totally impressed. We spent 5 hours looking around, including lunch at the well catered eating area. Our Hotel staff in Berlin had no idea where the Autostadt was and we didn't find any brochures either so maybe a good idea to do your research before leaving home.

“A must for auto enthusiasts”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

The site itself is beautiful, with really interesting architecture and landscaping. There is a display of all brands of cars from the first Benz to today's models. A staff member was very helpful in getting us to the factory tour on time, and the tour was conducted by a very knowledgable man. We had no little kids with us, but it looks like there are lots of great actvities for the 6-10 year olds. If you are interested in autos at all, try to visit the Autostadt!

“Great day trip from Berlin”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

We visited Autostadt as a day trip from Berlin via return train trip. Being a work day, there weren't too many people to crowd the site. We found the people at the front desk very informative about things to do with young children and they helped us book tours at times convenient for us. Highlights for us were the VW factory tour and car tower tour (this costs extra). The kids loved playing in the indoor and outdoor children areas and sitting in the cars (particularly the Porsches).

We recommend this as a good day trip particularly in inclement weather.
