Walking from the North of town, the University area, to Theaterplatz towards the downtown area, saw a "soulfood" sign. Curious, I first saw.... a bar called Buddha Lounge! But Soulfood is just around the corner, a little hidden behind a cobblestone area. There are just 6 small tables, and the cooking area is in plain view. One woman cooks, advises, serves, charges, and obviously owns the place. It is decorated with lots of African art, and she obviously loves Africa. There is a very short general menu which is vegan, and a daily changing main dish menu with two meat dishes. The vegan part I tried was a lentil salad, which tasted wonderful, and a vegetable stew in peanut sauce (sweet potato, celery root, okra and others) that tasted so great I asked for ingredients and tried to recook myself. The wine choice was not bad either. And it wasn't expensive - Euro 12.50 for an appetizer, main dish, and wine.
