“Nearly overwhelmed with fame”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

It must be good to be so popular. Lots of people were there when we arrived and so glad to manage to have a table for 5. Being a fairly cool October day I was glad for a hot chocolate drink and a slice of plum cake with cream. It was served promptly and pleasantly so no concerns on that score.

“A Piece of Germany in the 19th Century Survives in Wiesbaden”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

If you're looking for a stop at an authentic 19th century Kaffehaus, this place should be on your list. It's survived from the mid 1800s, and still retains much of that atmosphere.

Coffee and kuchen were very good, as was the service.

Only one minor issue: they charge for paying patrons to use the WC, something we saw nowhere else in Germany.

“Charming Traditional German Café”
Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

Traditional German-Style Café right in the center of Wiesbaden. It has the perfect unique atmosphere of a central-europe café. It is a popular place, so it can be a bit loud sometimes.
Great cakes!

“Vienna comes to Wiesbaden”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

Visited the Maldaner twice when recently in Wiesbaden, once for breakfast and once for morning coffee. Delighted on both occassions and found it had just the right degree of informality.

“pretty vienese style cafe in wiesbaden with sweet shop”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

The Maldaner is a feast for the eyes and taste buds if you have a sweet tooth. The whole cafe is based on the Vienese tradition and has been serving up patisserie for well over 100 years since 1859. The building itself is elegant and has beautiful decor. Staff wear traditional uniforms with lace hats for the ladies. The coffee and hot chocolate are nice although a bit pricey in comparison to other cafes.

Wiesbaden is very quiet on Sundays and visiting the Maldaner is one of the things to do there.

Its a very short walk from the Christmas markets should you be visiting in December. The cafe has a lovely Christmas window display at this time of year. Even if you do not eat in the cafe, go inside and take a look. You can buy chocolates here as well and custom-made cakes for special occasions.

Opening times are restricted.
Monday-Saturday 8.30-19.00
Sundays and public holidays 10.00-18.00

Check on the website before you visit as they may close for some holidays:
