“IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HILDEGARD”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

I recently visited this Abbey on a recent trip to Germany entitled "In the Footsteps of HIldegard". The Abbey has magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, and the church is especially beautiful. There is a shop with lots of products from the Abbey - they grow their own grapes and sell wine made from their grapes, as well as cookies made from spelt (a favourite grain of Hildegard). They have a large collection of Hildegard's writings (mostly in German) but I did find some in English. If you are interested in St Hildegard the Abbey is definitely worth a visit.

A very lovely abbey with nuns living here and running it. There is also a shop were you can buy things what are made here. The views you have from here are stunning. A must to visit part of history.

“A Great Morning Walk”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

This is not really a review of the Abbey, but rather a walk to and from the Abbey. We were on a Viking Cruise and docked too late and left too early to visit the Abbey. But early in the morning I got up and went for a walk up the hill through the acres and acres of grape vines as the sun was coming up. There was a wonderful mist coming off the Rhine and many birds were out and chirping and lots of rabbits running through the grape vines. I was able to walk by the Abbey and see it in the stillness of the morning and catch the glow of the sun off of it as it came up. It was a nice way to get some exercise, some solitude and enjoy some beautiful views.

“A beautiful Abbey”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

This was my first visit to the Abbey, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A quiet and peaceful place with lovely surroundings and an excellent shop. If you think Nuns are "stuffy," forget it. Talk to some of them in the Abbey Shop. What excellent sales staff they are. And some of the booze which is on offer is out of this World. I wish I had been able to hear the Organ being played, but I was able to buy a CD of it which is superb.
