“A warm stay in winter, and a wonderful breakfast”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

The hotel is just along the Rheinstrasse and the great river. Easy to find. Very pleasant to live so close to the Rhine. The room was lovely and clean, and very quiet. Staff were all very kind and helpful, especially Enrico, a polite gentleman with whom you can talk about football with.
The breakfast in Traube was genuinely wonderful with so many choices and varieties. For the jam only they served 6 tastes, all homemade. And don't miss smoked Rhine fish, mackerel probably.
Very close to Drosselgasse, only 3 minutes walking.
The hotel has several private parking places at the backyard, and 5 euro per day. Just ask the card from reception.
Many hotels in Ruedesheim closed during winter, but this one is the best choice to have a wonderful experience mixed with food, comfort, river, downtown, everything.

The hotel was small but clean. It was a bit rustic but then that adds to the charm.
Breakfast was pretty good. Enjoyed using the sauna and swimming pool.

The only drawback is that it does not have air conditioning in the room. We had to open the window for fresh air and since the hotel is located across one of Europe`s busiest railroad tracks, it can be a bit noisy.

Overall, we had a pleasant and relaxing stay at the hotel. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Room Tip: Request for a room that does not face the Rhein river to minimize the noise from the trains

This 4 star hotel is only yards from one of the busiest train lines in Europe. Trains thunder through night and day and as there is no air conditioning in summer you either swelter and get no sleep or open a window and get no sleep. Even with the windows closed it was extremely noisy. Saturday the town was full of drunks who seemed to converge outside the hotel and were still singing past midnight.
Bathrooms do not appear to have been updated since the 1970s.and ours had a distinct smell of drains. Our 'superior' room only had one bedside cabinet - we asked about it but nothing was done. The internet access was terrible. On the plus side the staff were very polite and helpful in finding us a restaurant and the rooms were clean..

Stayed one night in September, 2012. Room was small but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also small, but clean. The fact that it was small did not detract from the stay at all, it is just an older hotel. The people manning the desk were doing double-duty at times as bartender. They were friendly and efficient. There was free coffee in the lobby, which was very welcome since it was a rainy, cool day. Wifi worked well, but is expensive. Breakfast was good. The location is on the main street by the railroad at the end of town, not far from the cable car. I would be willing to stay there again.

I was happy to have my own bathroom, even though by American standards it is VERY small. The same could be said for the room. I am 6'3" tall, and the room is exactly that wide. The bed was situated at the back of the room, and when I layed down, my head touched one wall and my feet the other. No A/C and the only window opened into a rather noisy alley. However it did make for a place to stay and overall it could have been worse. My room was on the first floor, just off the main lobby.

I was apprehensive about staying after reading the reviews. I shouldn't have been. The hotel is ideally situated at the bottom of the Xmas Market. There is private parking and we never had trouble getting a space. You do have to pay but that is now normal or town centre hotels. On arrival we were made to feel welcome and the check in process was efficient. We were more than happy with our rooms. We didn't need luxurious or very roomy as we were there to get out and about and not stay in the hotel 24/7. The rooms had all the amenities we needed. We had hairdryers and safes and wardobe space. Like most European hotels the rooms didn't have tea and coffee making facilities but we knew that and took our own. Bathroom was clean and beds were comfy. We did our research and knew the hotels that overlooked the Rhine had a railway running past so we knew there would be noise. This didn't bother us. Breakfast was great. Plenty of continental and cooked choices . Food was hot and would've stayed that way had guests not left the food lids up. Staff were helpful. We didn't get ignored at all. If we needed to know about the area then we asked staff and they told us. Bar area was lovely and had a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. All together the hotel was perfect for us. We wanted traditional german and that was what we got. My partner who is part german was very happy with the hotel. If you want posh then go o places like th Hilton and pay the prices. Everywhere we have stayed we have never had a problem with staff. Maybe that is because we smile and chat and treat people how we expect to be treated ourselves. We will be returning there. Ideally located for Xmas Market, shops, sightseeing, bars, restaurants and local transport.

We stayed for just two nights and wished we had more time to spend there. Excellent place, nothing more to say - just go ahead if you're considering a hotel in this budget.
