“Small room but met the basic needs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

I was happy to have my own bathroom, even though by American standards it is VERY small. The same could be said for the room. I am 6'3" tall, and the room is exactly that wide. The bed was situated at the back of the room, and when I layed down, my head touched one wall and my feet the other. No A/C and the only window opened into a rather noisy alley. However it did make for a place to stay and overall it could have been worse. My room was on the first floor, just off the main lobby.

I was apprehensive about staying after reading the reviews. I shouldn't have been. The hotel is ideally situated at the bottom of the Xmas Market. There is private parking and we never had trouble getting a space. You do have to pay but that is now normal or town centre hotels. On arrival we were made to feel welcome and the check in process was efficient. We were more than happy with our rooms. We didn't need luxurious or very roomy as we were there to get out and about and not stay in the hotel 24/7. The rooms had all the amenities we needed. We had hairdryers and safes and wardobe space. Like most European hotels the rooms didn't have tea and coffee making facilities but we knew that and took our own. Bathroom was clean and beds were comfy. We did our research and knew the hotels that overlooked the Rhine had a railway running past so we knew there would be noise. This didn't bother us. Breakfast was great. Plenty of continental and cooked choices . Food was hot and would've stayed that way had guests not left the food lids up. Staff were helpful. We didn't get ignored at all. If we needed to know about the area then we asked staff and they told us. Bar area was lovely and had a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. All together the hotel was perfect for us. We wanted traditional german and that was what we got. My partner who is part german was very happy with the hotel. If you want posh then go o places like th Hilton and pay the prices. Everywhere we have stayed we have never had a problem with staff. Maybe that is because we smile and chat and treat people how we expect to be treated ourselves. We will be returning there. Ideally located for Xmas Market, shops, sightseeing, bars, restaurants and local transport.

We stayed for just two nights and wished we had more time to spend there. Excellent place, nothing more to say - just go ahead if you're considering a hotel in this budget.

We stayed in the Traube part of the hotel, so can only comment on this, the other part Amuller, was closed. Between us we had two rooms 324 and 325, the rooms were very compact, (small) and the wardrobe space limited, we had no drawers in our room 325, as there were two of us we had to keep some of our clothes in suit cases. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room's heating worked well (at night it was -10 c outside ). The Hotel faces the Rhine, and is in a very good location, just round the corner from the Drosselgasse. The hotel restaurant is light, airy and with lovely views. Breakfast was very good, self service and included a variety of cold meats, fruit, pasta, yogurt , cereal, and hot food, scrambled egg, german sausage, beans, hash browns, soft rolls and toast jams etc.

We had two evening meals included in our break at the hotel, these were nothing special, not memorable, just sufficient to stop us from being hungry.

A comfortable bar, with leather chairs and settees was located on the ground floor and you walked through this area to get to the the hotel reception counter. My husband and I went for a dip in the swimming, which was clean and larger than I had expected, there was a good shower and sun loungers to relax in.

The Traube is a well located, clean hotel, we were told it was 4* , probably because of the facilities available, I would give it 3. I would stay there again but not have an evening meal. The rack rate of our room was 130 euros per night, rather steep, look out for better deals.

Rudesheim is a lovely town, and very festive in December with the quaint streets and market square brimming with Christmas Market stalls. I recommend the following two restaurants, the Stadt Frankfurt Market str.30 and the Roseburger on the corner of Drosselgasse. Make sure you try the Rudesheim Coffee, ritually made with Asbach and keep the winter chill at by having a Gluhwein (muld wine) from one of many stalls.

We took a cable car ride to the monument, where there are wonderful views and we visited Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet museum, which was very interesting and housed in a lovely building, some parts dating back to the 12th Century. I hope to go back to Rudesheim again, winter or summer there is plenty to do and see, with easy access to other Rhine villages by cruiser or train.

Its a lovley hotel in a wonderful town, we went when the chritmas markets were on it was fantasic. but the food was terrible, we were given raw turkey one evening! some of the staff made us feel very welcome but some others made us feel very unwelcome. there is also a bar right next door with what sounded like a night club in, when i complaned about the noise and asked for a room change a was just told there was no other rooms not even an apology.

What a lovely hotel. I have just come back from a 4 night stay to visit the Christmas markets. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and warm. It is in a good location over looking the Rhine. Food was lovely possible the only complaint was even though we had a set menu the service for the evening meal was a little slow.

I have stayed a number of times at this hotel with a large group. The service has always been excellent and the staff friendly. It is a very pleasant hotel and has a warm atmosphere.
