“The Duck hotel - charming and relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

Rüdesheim has a lot to offer, both in quantity and quality. We had four nights in this hotel last fall, at the end of the tourist season, and at that time it was quiet at night, not to crowded at day, and very relaxing all together.

The standard is as usual in Germany, quite good. Nicely decorated room, everything working as it should.

The breakfast has a good variety, and the evening menu is not cheap, but you get what you are paying for. The duck-fillet was superb. The staff very friendly, and the house wine was just in our taste.

Room Tip: Check out the website of the hotel as there are several "packages" if you are staying a co...

This is a family hotel, nice and clean. Rooms are not very large but acceptable. The area is very quiet. Easy access by car, good and free parking. Breakfast was very good whereas dinner in hotel's restaurant was not exciting and pretty expensive for Germany. There are lots of restaurants in Rudesheim to explore.

The rooms at the front of the hotel are very noisy at night with traffic and pedestrians - we moved to the back and it was better. The church bells chime every quarter hour day AND night. Other towns shut them down at 10pm.
The heating in the rooms gets hot - leave it off and the window open during the day. Windows are double glazed to cut out noise.
Breakfast here is a real treat with a great variety of sweet and savoury food.
Lovely meals in the hotel restaurant.
I loved all the china ducks around the dining room (and up the stairs and on all the shelves) it gives the hotel an identity - should be called the "Duck Hotel"
Only 2 English TV channels - BBC and CNN.
No tea/coffee making facilities in the room
Lovely friendly reception and waitresses. A family feel that is welcome.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

We were very lucky to book a room at the Trapp Hotel. It was a last minute booking because while we were on our boat tour on the Rhine, I realized I had booked a hotel in Assmannshausen, not in Rudesheim. Unfortunately, when you search for hotels in Rudesheim, hotels in other cities come up (including this website). Assmannshausen is not so convenient to reach...it's a short train ride, but there are not trains that often.

The Trapp hotel is centrally located. It was nice to just stroll back to our hotel after our fun night out on the town, drinking the local wine and a nice dinner. We had a quiet room on the top floor...it was small, but clean and had a large bathroom. Breakfast was fine. The staff were friendly.

My husband and I stayed here overnight for our anniversary. The staff was very warm and friendly, breakfast was delicious, our room was beautiful and clean. The hotel is only a few minute's walk from shops and loads of restaurants, yet far enough away from the train that we didn't hear it once. The only suggestion I would have would be to see if you can get a room in the back of the hotel. We were in a front room, and although the traffic noise wasn't terrible, it was a little loud at times. But nothing to take away from the charm and warmth of this place!

We arrived in Rudesheim to find the pension we had booked closed. We drove around asking for rooms and one hotel sent us to the Hotel Trapp. The staff were very helpful and had rooms for us. They showed us the rooms.

The location is great for access to all the restaurants in town. It was only a short walk down to the Rhine River to get to the boat that does the trip up the Rhine.

The price was fair for what we got. Both the single and double rooms were a good size for the price. The breakfast was tasty. We could get laundry done and wireless internet access was free. There is on site parking. And there is a lift. Things we have come to appreciate when travelling in Europe as that is not true everywhere.

This was the nicest hotel for interior decor in the room which included a fridge and safe.
It was a very large room. We had the junior suite. It is near the centre of town and you walk everywhere.
The breakfast was good and there is a free internet service in the foyer.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It has charm with great hosts.
