Hotel Lindenwirt

We arrived by car and found the staff very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable with an ensuite. Toiletries and towels provided. We overlooked the inner courtyard which was also the car park but it is so olde worlde and quiet. A restaurant which has nothing to with the Hotel overlooks one side of the courtyard and the whole outlook is so pretty with great plants and even some exceptional cosy bedrooms made out of Large old barrels.
Breakfast was superb with hot food ie scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, and cold platters of cheese and various meats, juices, fruits, cereals, yogurts, fruit salad, tea, coffee, bread. A good start to the day.
The Hotel opens on to Drosselgasse the famous street which is beautiful but gets very busy when coaches arrive. We ate at the Hotel at the restaurant on Drosselgasse the first night and had entertainment with our meal so worthwhile. Can't fault the Hotel or the resort. We spent a morning up at the Germania monument, went on a Rhine boat cruise for the day to Boppard and drove to Koblenz for the day too from here.
A beautiful part of the world.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor but there was a lift. Most rooms overlook the quiet courtyard and have a...

Nice weingarten with live music. A good view of the glockenspiel of the nearby Ruedesheimer Schloss. The food was just fine but unremarkable. The special Spargel (white asparagus) menu made it better.

This is a very charming hotel in the heart of the old town of Rudesheim. Just walk to all the quaint (and touristy) shops. The staff was very friendly and helpful; even to printing out directions to our next vacation stop. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Our room was a little small, but charming and, most important, clean. The hotel itself is very old, which adds to the charm of the stay. The only way they could improve would be to offer free internet.

This hotel is lovely. Staff are friendley and food is good. Rooms very in size. Beds were lovely and comfortable. And our bathroom was large with bath and shower and hairdryer and a lovely heated towell rail. Its right on the Drosselgasse so in some rooms you may get some noise, also may get noise if other travellers are leaving early. There are some lovely little shops, and at christmas the christmas market. You can go for a cable car ride over the vine yards and view the Rhine ect. The Train station is within walking distance of hotel. The hotel is rather old but this adds to the charm. It was our second stay here and would go back again. Oh and theres a lovely chiming clock outside.

It has its charm, however everything is old – the walls would need a painting, the floor a new carpet. Walls are very thin and I would say half of the rooms have the entrance from the inner yard, via a terrace. So when a group leaves at 5 a.m. you can hear each trolley and hear every word.
There are at least two types of rooms: twin room, very small and basic, and double room with a double bed and a small extendable sofa (and with a small bathtub and hairdryer). We have booked via Jetair and those where the only two available in their brochure. However they might have other types two. The hotel also has rooms in a barrel – so it’s part of the Crazy Hotels of the World network 
On the bright side, the heating works - a bit too much as the air became dry and in the first night our daughter woke up several times asking for water. In the subsequent nights we put glasses of water on the heaters and we all slept better.
The hotel is located in a very lively part of the city (sometimes too lively!) so it might not be the best choice for families with children.
The hotel has a small parking (for about 10 cars) in the inner yard. To fit more cars in, you can leave the car keys at the reception and then they move it when someone else needs to go out. There are couple public parkings within walking distance, free only after 18.00 in the evening. The train station is also in walking distance.
The reception staff was ok and English speaking, however the restaurant staff let much to be desired in terms of friendliness and speed. The food was decent and plenty of it.
The city is indeed very charming. We took a “Romantic tour” with the cable-car passing above the vineyards, boat on the Rhine and a visit to a castle – it took as the whole day and we came back with the last boat. So if you plan to take this tour, make sure you start early as it takes at least 8 hours!

We made reservations for two couples in early March 2010 for September 2010 and paid in advance through our tour company. When we arrived, we were told the tour company had overbooked the hotel and we would have to move to another hotel. While this was true, the new hotel was not the one we wanted and definitely was not an upgrade as we were told. There is NO WAY a tour company can overbook a hotel, unless the hotel does this. So, if you plan to stay at the Lindenwirt, don't count on having confirmed reservations. They mean nothing!!! We were not the only people inconvenienced in this way. There were also 3 Japanese tourists who had to mvoe.
