“Good food, good wine, good service, good ambiance! - THE place to stay!”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

It was a last minute decision for us to go away for the weekend and I was hoping against hope that we could still get a room on such short notice: a couple of hours before departure on the same day! I was so glad that I received an email from them (made inquiries via their website) just before noon that they still had a room available for us. Immediately booked it and didn't regret making the decision.
The dining area at the courtyard had a nice atmosphere, the food and the wine (had different sorts of Riesling wines) was delicious, and the band providing entertainment added to the summer atmosphere.
We had the best room, just below the bell tower. We had a view of the courtyard on one side and of the cozy street of town on the other. The room was well insulated against noise for our goodnight's sleep was not disturbed by the merriment/music coming from the courtyard.
The breakfast was varied with yoghurts, fruits, bread, freshly made bacon, eggs or pancakes upon request, with hot or cold beverages and white wine.
The service was excellent from the moment of inquiry until we checked out.

Rudesheim is a beautiful town and Breuer` Schlosshotel is located in the middle of the town. Everybody is kind and helpful. Rooms are big enough (at least for us) and nicely decorated. The restaurant is very good. Price - performance is on spot. Remember to book a table in advance, at least during weekends. Its very popular restaurant. Car parking is safe and easy access.

Room Tip: I have been three times in this hotel, every time a different room. They all have been good. There i...

A 17 century manor house, in the middle of the (rather too) touristy Ruedeshiem.

Rooms: our attic rooms facing the side street were great. The rooms are a mix of the old architecture with very modern furniture that does work rather well. I might have liked a little more self or other surface space in the bathroom, but otherwise, all was clean, roomy and functional. The view over the vineyards and the castle was lovely. Rooms facing the courtyard are likely to be a bit more noise-prone because of the restaurant band at night and breakfast being served in the morning.

Breakfast: fresh local produce based. Plan to have a leisurely and lazy one if you can – it is highly enjoyable and there is lots to choose from.

Restaurant: The courtyard restaurant is clearly the highlight. My roast duck with figs and dates was delicious, as was the trout and the veal liver which others in our party tried. The house tappas were typical German dishes like leberwurst, wild boar prosciutto, and meat in aspic. Excellent quality. But don't go for the tapas option if you are a vegetarian - all were meat-based.

My only reservation about the restaurant was the rather loud band trying to run through the entire collection of German and American 1950s music in 4 hrs. Very entertaining for a while but not conducive for normal dinner table conversation or even for talking to the waiter. However, we were told the band is only there 2 times a week and a piano player entertains guests on the other nights, which must be much more pleasant.

Wines: The hotel and the restaurant are owned by a local wine-producer. To be honest, Rhine-area wines are not top on my list. The Rieslings are too heavy for my taste and the reds are… well, let's just say - it's not really a climate for red wine production. Having said that, the Breuer wines were a complete surprise. They had an excellent light sect for an aperitif (try it as a kind of kir with a local grape liquor called Asbach), the Rieslings were rather good and so was the Pino Noir. Desert wine was perfect for finishing the meal. All in all, it did make me reconsider my pre-conceived ideas about Rhine wines.

Service: really pleasant and friendly staff (both the hotel and the restaurant).

The area: Ruedesheim is in the lower part of the Middle Rhine region, also known as the Romantic Rhine. It is a good place to start or finish your trip along the river, visiting dozens medieval fortresses and tasting the local Rieslings on the way.

Other things to do in the area: We did a round trip, renting our bikes in Bingen, a ferry ride across the river from Ruedesheim, biking about 45 km downstream (north) to Boppard, stopping to see an occasional cliff-top castle (of which there are dozens), staying overnight in a village downstream and then taking a boat back to bring our bikes. So Ruedesheim was our last stop on the way and a very pleasant one it turned out to be.

Our favorite stops on the way were in Bacharach (quaint little town, nice walk up to the castle and a cold drink on the castle’s terrace with a great view over the Rhine valley) and Boppard (beautiful Rennaisance church with well-preserved frescoes, lots of little cafes and shops, nice riverside promenade).

In Ruedesheim itself, the wine museum based in the town’s 9th century castle was quite interesting – a substantial collection of wine amphora, glasses, win-growers tools and other implements from some 5 thousand years ago to the 1980s. My favorites – old wine presses from the 16th and 17th century set around the castle gardens.

Room Tip: Stree-side rooms were fine but my guess is - the rooms facing the courtyeard could be a bit noisy as...

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for your time and effort to explain about our Hotel.
We pleased, that you found a German wine you like, you are right Rheingau Riesling are nice, dry and fresh.. This wine goes well with our regional specialties
The Rüdesheim summer feeling makes this town famous. The guest visits this small town to enjoy, what is not possible in other places. Where else enjoy high quality of wine and food outside till midnight combined with live music to dance, sing along or just to listen.
Guests who want to miss this or need to go to bed early, may close the soundproofed windows or ask for a room to the south side, Steingasse or Sickinger Hof. May be those guest choose spring and winter time, because this periode is very quiet on all sides. On the other hand, we are away from the railway and main streets.
We would be happy to welcome you anytime again.

You Schloss Team

This was our first experience of this region of Germany. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we could not fault with anything. The room was amazing, the Restaurant was just unbelievable with a band most lunchtimes and every evening. We had every intention of trying different Restaurants during our 4 night stay, but stayed in the hotel each night. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and of course the wine which goes without saying was superb. Our hosts and their staff just couldn't do enough for you and we can't wait to visit again next year. Can't imagine anyone could find falut which such an amazing place.

Room Tip: The whole place just oozes peace and tranquility.

We have been traveling through German wine regions and stayed at Ruedesheimer Schloss for one night. It is located in the heart of the village but driving is not difficult. There is a parking place just opposite the hotel. Check-in is very friendly and informal, no credit card , no ID, just the name and you are in. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. Restaurant serve regional dishes (excellent asparagus !!) with German wines matching food. There is a live German folk music during evening. Still not being the fan of I don't think it is too loud or invasive. However being at late 40's we felt the youngest at the party. :)

Breuer's Ruedesheimer Schloss
A real gem of a hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the area is fantastic.
Location: Walking distance from the station. And just off the famous Drosselgasse with most things in very easy walking distance.
Rooms: Spacious with lovely bathrooms.
Staff: Excellent staff – especially Susanne and Maresa Breuer.
Food: A Gastronomic feast and great live music.

Sehr geehrter Gast,
