I have been visiting Rüdesheim for the past 30 years and have observed a change. From its humble beginnings it has evolved into a 24-hour party especially on weekends with the influx from Frankfurt, just one hour away by train. But, for this charming little village think fun, think wine. It is known for its Rheingauer Riesling white wine and is the only area in the Rheingau that grows red wine. Oh, and don’t leave until you try their unique Rudesheimer Coffee.

You can’t miss the Drosselgasse the heart of the old town where most of the restaurants are located. Unfortunately it has become a tourist trap for the many tour groups Rüdesheim gets from the Rhine cruise ships especially on weekdays.

Other than party and enjoy an authentic German town you may care to take the lift to Benedictine Abbey of St. Hildegard which is home to nuns of the Benedictine Order and offers a magnificent views of the Rhine River and the hillside vineyards. Also consider visiting the well presented Mittelalterliches Foltermuseum (Mediaeval Torture Museum) near the train station.

My husband and I enjoyed Susan's tour of Rudesheim immensely and did lots of things that we wouldn't have known about if we had been left to our own devises. We packed so many different experiences into the nine hour tour and were very lucky that everything was open at the time of year that we visited. The day flew by too quickly and I would definitely book another tour if I am ever in that part of the world again.

My wife and I recently visited Rudesheim with Susan for an all day trip. We met Susan in Wiesbaden and took the train down to Rudesheim. Once there we had the local coffee specialty with Asbach brandy and a wonderful flaming presentation. Then we walked around the town and visited the Wine Museum which is interesting if you have a passion for this subject. We then took the cable car ride up the mountain to walk through the park there to the Germania statue. Then down the other side of the mountain on the chair lift (not too high or scary) to the small town of Assmannhausen. Across the Rhein river to the very cool Rheinstein Castle and then a relaxing boat ride back to Rudesheim. This all took us the better part of one day but was definitely worth it!. Susan is a great host and is very friendly and knowledgable about just about everything. I would highly recommend Susan to anyone and any size group. She's really great.
