“Great touch-of- Germany street”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Although Ruedesheim is a tourist attraction, shoppers can find many bargains. Look for real Rhein stones (kiesel) made into jewelry. Many excellent restaurants, some with Bavarian music.

“Wine, Food and Gifts.”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

This charming street is not very long but it is packed with weingartens, biergartens and great food. We visited 3 different establishments on the way down the street. Each one was equally good. We had lunch in the Lindenwurt garten, a cinamom chimney at No 5 Drosselgasse and dancing , beer and wine in the restauranet Bei Hanelore. We bought a bottle of white wine in the shape of the legendary Loreley and listened to yodeler along the way. They say Christmas is great. Lots of tourist, but that goes with the territory.

“Picturesque Tourist Village”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

A locall German colleague took me to Ruedesheim for a Saturday visit while I was in Weisbaden on business. It was challenging to find parking amidst the numerous tour buses and other tourists' cars in the modestly sized, metered public lot along the riverfront. From there it was an easy walk towards the main tourist area and the tram up to the monument. As we walked, my colleague warned me that most Germans avoid the tourist town, which caters to foreigners looking to experience their stereotype of a German village. But he also pointed out that it was always a favorite place for him to take guests because it was so pretty and offers many souvenir shops, beer gardens, cafes, and photo opportunities. I found the visit very enjoyable although the streets were a bit crowded. Note that the Drosselgasse and other tourist areas are moderately hilly, making a visit challenging for anyone with mobility problems.

“Touristy but fun”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

We visited along with some German friends for the Christmas Markets and were warned it was very 'touristy' ... true but fun. Everything (like everywhere else in Germany) was beautifully decorated with lots of fairy lights etc.

“Great spot”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

This is the spot to be in at night. Lots of restaurants playing live music and great food to be had. Make sure you are there on the hour to hear the Carillon play. Great photo ops.
