WOW what can I say about Frankfurt train station its di bomb if you have nothing to do go and hang out there like every one do, there are shop's burger king, Mac Donald, Star buck,a new food court bakery's, but do not park your car there its like HIGHWAY ROBBERY to park your car under the train station walk or go buy S-Bahn or U-Bahn, you will be glad that you did. this is one of the oldest train station in Germany it was bombed during the war, but its been rebuild. its not a closed bahnhof so it get pretty cold during winter time. My first time in this train station was back in 1978 I caught the TROOP Train to West Berlin yes the divided city back then it was a cold war then and this was the only transpo to West Berlin on track 1.But back in the 80's the train station was a home for all the junkies to shot up, and your homeless was refugee's there, drugs was sold around the train station back then, I mean you could not go there with some one begging you for lose change. Those was crazy time back then until the German police got orders to clean it up and that what they did. Now old lady's can go there with be afraid for there life. But Frankfurt station is in the middle of Germany so you can go any where in Europe in a short period of time, like Berlin is 5 hours, Amsterdam is 3.5 to 4 hours,Paris is about 3-4 hours'Munich is about 3.5-4 hour or prague is about 3.5-4.5 hours. In the summer of 2014 you can go to London from Frankfurt Bahnhof thro the English Chanel. But If you live here you should buy a Bahn Card its a yearly card they have 25%,50%,and 100% discount with a 50% you pay half fare but a 50% will cost you about 235 Euro'sa yearits worth it if you travel alot like me. SO what are you waiting for All a Board. P.S all German ICE (FAST TRAIN) HAVE BISTRO to eat or drink coffee or beer, they will even come to your wagon so you can sit and relax and be served. ciao

“Transport center for the city”

Best thing about this place is that you can get just about anything at any time of day. Impressive enough to merit a tourist visit if nothing else.

“Good station”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

As far as train stations go, this one is pretty decent. There are plenty of places to eat, buying tickets is quite easy as the machines are in multiple languages and with the metro under the station you can get to most parts of Frankfurt within a few minutes.

One issue I noted and this is something I have seen in many train stations is that there are a lot of homeless people, drunks, drug users and sometimes gypsies there. All the times I was in the station the homeless people seemed to leave me alone but I did get a few gypsies asking me for money though they weren't as pushy as in some places I have been. Also for the drug users, I did notice the odd discarded syringe lying around near the metro entrance that lead out onto or near to Taunusstraße, Karlstraße and Kaiserstraße so if you are using those entrances, be careful where you step.

Spoiled after recently visiting Antwerp Station.
Frankfurt looks nice from the outside but is like any other on the inside. Plenty of places to eat though!

The train station is big equipped with lots of snack bar and fast food. If you have a long trip ahead or need to have a quite meal, it's a very good choice!
