“The Perfect Layover Hotel – Recently Renovated”
Reviewed June 3, 2009

Hotel Continental is an excellent choice if you have an overnight layover in Frankfurt. It is located across from the main train station. Train from the airport costs 3.70EUR and takes only15 minutes.

My room was small (the bed took up more than half the room), but it was very clean and comfortable. The room and bathroom were newly renovated. Internet costs only 5EUR per 12 hours.

If you have a few more hours in Frankfurt, I suggest going to the tourist information centre across the street in the train station, and join one of their two hour Frankfurt tour. If you get a “Frankfurt card”, you can get free travel around Frankfurt and to the airport, and 15% off the day tour.

There is no need to search for an internet deal, as the regular rate of this hotel is very low and affordable. The location of this hotel is unbeatable - right across to street to the Frankfurt Central Station.

I paid 37 euros for my single room and thought it was a fantastic deal. Room was small but comfortable. Flat screen TV and writing desk. Bathroom looked like it had recently been redone - small, but very modern and spotlessly clean.

I didn't eat breakfast, but I popped my head into the dining room and it looked like a good deal for 8 euros.

Don't think there was any air conditioning, so could be hot in summer (although there were 3 large windows that could be opened, but might let in noise). No safes in the rooms. Other bad thing: walls are paper thin - I could hear my neighbour's TV. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper just in case.

I stayed here for one night only. I had a 12 hr layover at the Frankfurt airport (10pm to 10am), had minimal luggage with me, and the trip into the city to stay here was worth it. The Sheraton at the airport is pricy, and I didn't think the reviews for the other airport hotels were all that great, so I was pleased with my decision. This hotel is dead easy to get to. Just catch the S-bahn right at the airport and take it to the main station (Hauptbahnhof), cost is 3.70 euros and takes 10-15 minutes, and trains run fairly frequently. As you leave the main station, the hotel is to the right, just a stone's throw away. There are bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Just got back from a 3 night stay in Frankfurt at the Continental Hotel. The best thing about it is its brilliant location just opposite the central station - Frankfurt HBF. From here you can reach anywhere in the city and even the whole country. Trams, Underground/Subway, S-bahn, Regional and Inter-City trains are all just across the road.
Another great thing about being so near the station is that there are lots of shops, supermarket/convenince stores, cafes, restaurants etc. This is especially helpful on Sundays when most shops are closed elsewhere.

The room was small with a single bed, simple and lacking things like a mini-bar (fridge), safe etc. but comfortable, the bed was very comfirtable. The room I stayed in was one of the older unrefurbished rooms but still not too bad, the bathroom however had been refurbished and had an excellent powerful shower. Room and bathroom were also very clean, the only negative thing I can say is the noise from the trams outside but thats being in the city centre.
The reception staff in general were pleasant and helpful, there was one guy that works in the mornings that was a but pushy though.

All in all it was an enjoyable stay and would definately return, great price and great location.

This hotel is visible as you exit the main train station in Frankfurt. Others have written about the location being "dicey" or unsafe but that is not the case. We walked from the train station each night and it was absolutely safe and a good area. The room is no frills but it was also only $48 a night. It was more than I expected for the price as it was very roomy by European standards and we never felt cramped. The bathroom however, is T-I-N-Y and the shower only has a half-door on it. I have no idea why they did that as having a full sized shower door there would not take any space out of the bathroom. As a result of the half-door, the bathroom gets soaked when you shower so expect that. We were in room 112 on the back side of the hotel. The windows are sound proofed so we never had any outside noice. We would hear the occasional rumble of a train as the S Bahn is under the hotel. It sounded to us like distant thunder and was actually quite relaxing. There was no other noise that we experienced. They offered high speed internet for 5 Euros for 12 hours. The time is only as you use it so as long as you log off when you're done that should last you a week. It did for us. They also have a computer terminal in the lobby though we had our own computer with us so we did not inquire if there was a charge to use it. The front desk staff is very friendly and was very helpful in recommending area restaurants.

The Hotel Continental has a great location, right next to the main train station, the Hauptbahnhof. We arrived late at night, and checked in with no problems.
The room was in the second floor, facing the Baselerstrasse, which was a bit noisy because of the trams and cars right outside. Even so, we had no problems getting a good nights sleep. The room itself was absolutely great! A large wardrobe area just inside the entrance, a clean, but small bathroom and a large bedroom with two balconies and large windows. The room seemed newly redecorated, and the beds were comfortable. We also had office space and an extra chair. The drawbacks with the room was that the tv was tiny, and the shower had absolutely no pressure at all. If you tried to adjust the heat of the water, the pressure was reduced, which led to a freezing shower every morning. This was also the only bad thing about this hotel.

The room was cleaned every day with heated towels from the rack on the wall. The bathroom was equipped with hand soap, shower-gel and shampoo from dispensers on the wall. We noticed that someone here claimed that there were no hot-tubs in the hotel, but we had one in our bathroom.

The receptionists were polite and welcoming, every time we entered the reception.
You have to leave the key at the reception when you're going out, but no hassle at all since the key is a charming "classic" touch that you don't want to carry around anyways.

In the reception area, there is a computer which can be used for free. Just ask the receptionist for the login information. We did not try the breakfast, but the breakfast area looked inviting and clean.

Wifi internet is available in the room also for a small fee. We paid 5 Euros for 12 hours of access. Just go to the reception and they will print the login information for you.

All in all, the location is unbeatable as you walk to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in a few seconds, and there is also some good alternatives for restaurants or breakfast options only a few blocks away. The room was clean and the staff were polite. Highly recommendable!

PS: Beware of all the drug-dealers and vagrants in the area around the Hauptbahnhof at night.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights while I atteneded a congress in Frankfurt.

The location was great, as it was less than 5 mins by foot from the contral train station. I walked to the exhibition center everyday, as it was just 15 mins away. It was one stop away from the main shopping street (i think it was called Zeil).

I loved the breakfast, although they didn't serve a massive variety, all foods were very tasty - the sausages, bread, eggs and homemade yoghurt, which I loved most.

The staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was very basic but spotless, super clean and warm (I went there in winter). I enjoyed Frankfurt very much partly becoz I had great sleep every night. I will go back to the same hotel again!
