Owner description: The only constant in this art exhibition hall is change. There is no permanent exhibition, but constantly changing exhibitions of Antiquity, Old Masters, modern and contemporary art, decorative art and photography.

There were two special exhibits when I visited: Yoko Ono and Letzte Bilder. The Yoko Ono exhibit was a little too weird for me to appreciate: a series of 3-word poems; various artifacts of John Lennon; a movie of two flies walking on Yoko’s naked body; a half of a chair (indeed half a room); beaded room divider; her biography in the circular room. About a third of it was subtitled in English. The guards were friendly to remind me no drinks or backpacks in the exhibit area.

Didnt get past the foyer. Went up to the desk and there were several staff engaged in a conversation a few metres a way. I even caught their eye but they just continued their conversation. That's cool. Plenty of other places that want me to visit and spend my money.

Some reviewers have criticized the building of this 'art hall', with justification. It should however be pointed out that it is not a museum. It has no permanent exhibitions, only temporary ones, often more than one at a time. Right now they have one about the French impressionist Caillebotte combined with a look at French photography during impressionists' heyday. The second exhibition is about the shrinking concept of privacy in the modern world.
I have seen quite a few exhibitions at Schirn. Not all were great. One of the most memorable was certainly the Koons paintings a few months ago. Whenever I am in Frankfurt, ie a few times per year, I check out the current Schirn schedule. It is conveniently located in the city center, at Roemerberg, next to the dome and the historical museum.

Visited the Jeff Koons exhibits while here. Huge gallery, but there was no other exhibits here. Great building, but limited to a single exhibit at this location.

The museum is located right behind the 'Römer' square.
It's not large, but the special exhibits on display on a regular basis are worth a visit.
