“In the heart of the city”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

First of all, the hotel belongs to the Accor Group, to whom one can rely on regarding quality, service, and price all over the world. The hotel is just five minutes walk away from the main station (Hauptbahnhof), at where local, long distance and international trains are easily reached. However, if the target is the city of Frankfurt itself, no need to take any transportation as the hotel is in the heart of the city. It takes only a quarter of hour to reach the city's most popular history, shopping area, and the Main riverside by walk. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Friendly staff are always ready to help if needed. The lobby is small if one wants to have cup of coffee or tea it is better have it in the room as there are also some facilities available. Surelly many cafes are nearby too. I myself was glad to spend a week at this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms for better view.

Took me an hour from disembarkation at Frankfurt (Flughaven Frankfurt) Airport to check in via a taxi which cost me Euro35. Was a bit concerned reading other traveller comments about the proximity of the Hotel to the red light district but its about a block away and I hardly noticed it. The main attraction of this Hotel is it's proximity to Frankfurt's main train station (Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof). For those travelling to Frankfurt from Asia and suffering jet lag, it's useful having the station to walk to where there is food at 5.30am in the morning.

Check in was efficient and I had booked one of their larger rooms which is good if you're staying for a few days. Wifi was complementary but I think this depended on rates booked. The only inconvenient thing was having to get a new password every 24 hours. Breakfast was nice on the second floor but try to get a seat by the window. The dining room is small and you could end up waiting especially if there's a tour group at the Hotel.

From the Hotel, it's a very pleasant 20 minute walk to the famous shopping strip (Zeil) passing the EU Central Bank with the large Euro sign in front of it. A great photo opportunity. I wouldn't describe the Hotel as 5 star as I think it's a work in progress with some areas of the Hotel still undergoing renovations but you can't beat it for the location and you are surrounded by small restaurants.

Room Tip: Go for the larger room option if you're staying for a few days

Very convenient hotel, close to all main city attractions and the main train station.

However, hotel itself is quite old.

Breakfast selection was good however, they don't refill the items ( bacon, boiled egg...)

Receptionist was friendly.

We came to mercure after traveling for a month and staying in various 4-5 star hotels. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful. The breakfast was better than most of the other big hotel chains and it's location is fantastic. Their beds were a little uncomfortable because they had a wooden frame around them
But otherwise I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel given the price range. Extremely near the main train station. Walking distance to all the tourist attractions and malls.
