“No executive experience”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

2 night stay at a executive room, which looked like a standard room of any other 3 star hotel. Not too spacious, the beds are okay, a little hard but thats what I prefer.
No wifi signal at all in the room, not on my laptop, phone or ipad. So to work I had to go to the bar for a normal wifi internet connection. Bartender was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was good, pricey (€18) but nothing special. I had dinner twice and both where okay, but te red sauce served with the pasta was to spicy even for my roommate who likes hot and flammable. The next day the same sauce was used as a base for the zigeunerschnitzel with paprika. All and all not to bad, but average

We stayed there on a Cosmos tour.

NO AC, FRONT DESK CLERK INFORMED US AFTER COMPLAINING FOR 2 days!

ONLY RECYCLED OUTSIDE FRESH AIR!

My wife slept on balcony because it was cooler outside! But the pigeons thought she was one of them!

1 star is over rating this hotel!

We have traveled to over 70 countries and never have been treated worse!

The first 2 days of complaining, they kept saying AC would be repaired until a front desk clerk informed us that there is No AC only FRESH air!

Even in Tanzania in the middle of the Serengetti we had fans!

Don't stay unless you like camping out!

Room Tip: Great if you like camping Sleep in lobby AC works there

New owners and not much new since I stayed there 10 years ago. But they will refurnish the rooms level by level I heard. Standard is high and the Internet was really good even though you have to pay extra for it. It was the same with the breakfast. And in truth id rather choose myself what I pay for. So overall good.

The Leonardo Royal Frankfurt (formerly Holiday Inn Frankfurt City South) is located still relatively central, but already about 20min walk to the next train station (Frankfurt South), located on a main street with lots of traffic. Noise from cars and also from arriving planes are likely to be noticed. The rooms certainly need updates - defect bath armatures, run down furniture and carpets. Worst are the elevators: Never enough once the hotel is full or if there is a tradeshow ongoing. Lighting in these elevators is just a joke, a really bad one. Breakfast is good for this standard, but not exciting.
Overall - enjoy the ride... back into the 1970s :)

Room Tip: No recommendation possible. Higher floor means you must rely on the elevator (and it does take quite...

Take one of the worst Holiday Inn in the world, change the brand name to Leonardo Royal ... at the end, you still have a really bad place priced as a 4 stars hotel!
The new owner has not done any renovation but on top of that they dropped the business center, the usable wlan in the room, ...
The air-conditioning is simply not working and you get an over-heated room with the only option to open the window ... and get the noise from the main street!

To finish with a more positive note, I will mention that the breakfast was correct.

Dear Robert,

thank you for taking time to review our hotel. Please allow me to apologize for the inconvenience and negative impression you may have had. To correct you, we had a lot of renovations in our Lobby oder our Lobby Bar, as you can read in some other reviews. Furthermore we will renovate most of our rooms during the summer. The busines center will be reopened in the lobby also in a few month. I appreciate your feedback as this is our best resource for improving guest services.

We hope you give us a chance in the future to show you how great our hotel is.

Best regards,

Having read some rather negative reviews of this hotel (recently the Holiday Inn Frankfurt City Sud) I had low expectations when I arrived to run a workshop there. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel was comfortable with good sized rooms: mine had a spectacular view of the city. The room was clean, everything worked and I found it very satisfactory after a long day of work. The food at the hotel was very good and the staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is not in a central location, but there are places to eat within walking distance, including some good biergartens. The lifts can be busy entailing a bit of a wait, but this is the only negative feature I experienced.

I stayed there for one night with my family - wife and 2 kids. It's not really in the center but there is a Bus stop right outside the Hotel which takes you to the shopping center in about 12 minutes or so. For going to main railway station you have to change once to take the underground.
We were very pleased with our stay. Check in was smooth and staff was very friendly. Room was spacious (1102 on 11th floor) with 2 queen beds, recliner, flat screen tv, coffee maker as well as mini bar (it was not stocked but we didn't need it anyway). It was absolutely clean as you expect from a holiday inn property.
Breakfast was fantastic. We prefer Holiday inn due to its family friendly policies of kids stay and eat free.
It is predominantly a business hotel but we enjoyed it as family too.
The only reason for taking one star away is that in the bath tub the water drained slowly. The bathroom was otherwise very clean. I read many reviews with similar complaint, so the hotel management should quickly address this problem.
