It was maybe the 6th or 7th time we have had sushi there and we love it every time more.

The family running the place is adorable, takes great care of the customers, all the menu is great, salad and dessert included...don't miss the green tea ice cream, it is the perfect end to a great sushi night.

Sushi is fantastic, fish is always perfect and rice is done as it should be, definitely worth it.

Reservation recommended since the place is small

We visited the restaurant based on the reviews. Being Friday night we made a table booking to be on the safe side.

We arrived on time and were received warmly by the chef (effectively a 2-person show with his wife). The place is small and unassuming (the entry area can be a bit confusing as it doesn't look like a proper entrance.

The jokes and comical nature of the chef as described by others was on display right from the start - makes for an interesting evening - one needs to go with the flow and engage in the banter (despite language limitations).

The food was pretty good. The place is alarmist exclusively about sushi and sashimi (raw fish - which was explained to us at the time of making the booking). There is however a chicken yakitori and grilled salmon on the menu as well if you must have cooked food.

The yakitori was good with a nice charcoal flavour to it and well coated in the sauce.

The sashimi took quite a while to arrive. There only 3-tables occupied with 2 persons each. Everyone had ordered sashimi. Unless the chef has help during busier times I cannot imagine how he can feed everyone in a timely manner. Factor that into your plans.

When it did arrive we had very generous portions of excellent grade fish - worth the wait. Large pieces of fish unlike some places we have been in many countries where the pieces are small.

The sashimi plate that I ordered and the sushi ordered by my companion were both enough and filling. The 'make menu' order comes with rice, salad, miso soup and a dessert or coffee / tea.

So try it by all means, don't expect a fancy place, go with the flow and you will love the place.

I come here often, with friends, family with my partner and also alone. The quality of the sushi served is absolutely amazing! It is recommendable to call in advance as the restaurant is very small and at times extremely packed. Any little issues such as the typical decoration of a sushi restaurant are more than compensated by the quality of the fish served.

Very good sashimi by the Japanese chef and his wife in their small and humble restaurant. Food is great and the service a bit slow. The Hakushika Gijo sake is very good and the macha ice cream dessert excellent.
