“Clean, quiet and familial style”

We got there for a congress in Bad Homburg, about 15 km away, however, traffic was good in all four days of our staying there. Easily in reach from Frankfurt, too. Big and clean rooms. Excellent breakfast, friendly personnel, family style, almost felt like holidays.

After trying many hotels for the book fair, this one is a confirmed favourite. This is my third year. It is in a pretty village - one tastes the fresh air as one alights from the train. The nearest train stop is Berkersheim (S6) and then you walk through a field (there is a little road), over a stream, past some half timbered cottages. There is a bus for this 3 minute journey, but I always borrow a bicycle from the hotel. The decor of the hotel is nothing special, but it is comfortable and the restaurant / bar is nice. The food is solid, meat and potatoes (but in a good way). We are not talking fancy sauces, but big steaks and baked potatoes with sour cream. The thing that is fabulous about the hotel is its friendliness. I think that it is family run. It is certainly not a chain. The chap in reception is also the person who answers the emails, and raises the seat of the bicycle, finds an iron etc. Of course, the prices are silly during the book fair, but that is true of all hotels. The train takes 20 mins to the messe stop. Returning to the hotel in an evening after the chaos and canned air of the fair is lovely. Free WiFi and cocks crowing in the morning. I would recommend this hotel, but only if I get first dibs on the bike.

The Hotel is situated in the North-east suburbs of Frankfurt which some people might like (it's a quite village) and some might not (rather prefering buzzing places in the city centre). However, a taxi ride is between 27 and 45EUR. There is a relatively easy access to a 2min bus link to the train station which brings you to Frankfurt Messe, Airport or City in just 15-20min for less money.
The Hotel looks a bit dated at first but the service and the way of how the rooms are furnitured makes it look better. I found a spotless room with a nice en-suite. Shame they missed the usual toilettries at first. I had a loft room with a nice view over the market square. The room provided a small desk, a mini bar and a small flat screen tv as well as a small sofa. A very positive thing is WI-FI throughout for free. Again I need to mention the staff which is very helpful with everything I asked for. A bar next to reception gives the opportunity to sit down for a drink or the attached restaurant provides local food with a chefs speciality card.
The Restaurant is also the place where breakfast is served. A very nice choice of breads and rolls, loads of cereals, joghurts and fruits as well as the egg, bacon and sausage station. There was nothing I missed and it was nice to not need to share it with hundreds of other guests.
Overall a place I can comfortably recommend as it has the personal touch which bigger chains might miss out on. Unfortunately the price per room was not value for money due to the nearby exhibitions. But this problem you'll have every else in the world, too.
