“Quite okay considering price and location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

Was there early March 2013. Fairly close to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station). Very wintery weather (snow/ sleet, rain). Very good service during checking-in. Room was quite okay (a little bit on the small side, but I needed only a bed for one night before another transatlantic flight). Internet service quite okay. Good breakfast.
Overall I can recommend this hotel

This hotel is very close to the main train station and it's just a 15 min walking distance of the centre. The breakfast is very good, the room is clean and cozy. The only thing I didn't like was the stairs. Me and my mother were with kind of big luggage to go to the room by ourselves with no help.

We went to visit the Christmas Market during December 2012 and stayed here for 3 nights. We had origanally booked one room, but I had to book an additional room as my friend had hurt her back and didn't want to disturb me when she got up to pace during the night! I hadn't asked for the rooms to be near eachother but this had been done automatically by the hotel management - very impressed!

Rooms were spotless and the hotel is on a fairly quiet street close to tram and bus stops so ideal location. There was no kettle in the room so take a travel kettle if you need to. Free tea and coffee is available at the bar (which is the reception area). We didn't try breakfast so can't comment, but the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to use the printer in reception free of charge to print our return boarding passes.

The tram network in Frankfurt is amazing so transport was easy and if you're buying tickets for more than one person, choose a group ticket as it's cheaper!

Fab hotel, bed comfy, rooms spotless, safety deposit box in each room - what more can you ask for?

Room Tip: All floors are small, but if you're really sensitive to noise I'd ask for one away from the...

The only drawback was the initial set of stairs into the front door. It was hard to drag our large baggage into the small entry/lobby. There is a lift to the rooms from this floor.
The rooms were good, but ion the small side. The room came equipped with internet. We had a good heater in the room and the bathroom, so was 'cosy' even though it was the middle of winter.
We arrived in a rental mini-van - no problem, as off street parking in the hotel was roomy enough to not worry about street parking or possible parking fines inner-city (hotel charged maybe Euro12 overnight).
I think the staff were all direct, efficient, practical, no-nonsense, but very polite.
Had two stays, one flying into the country and one the night before flying out.
The hotel is very close to many restaurants, and breakfast cafes, and the Hauptbahnhof. The walk from the hotal (near the river) to the city is very interesting - we tried it early morning and in the evening (walking to the Christmas markets) - loved it.
Would definitely recommend, if you do not need to stay in the central city itself. Good value for money for Frankfurt.

Room Tip: No rooms really have a view, so choose from smoking/non-smoking.

Some smoking rooms are available in this 3-star hotel, but balconies are also available on all of the rooms on the front of the hotel. My room, on the back side of the hotel, had a door that opened fully to the fire escape, overlooking a quiet garden for plenty of fresh air. Trouble with the WiFi turned out to be the my fault as I just needed to reboot my iPad for some reason. Until then, I was convinced, as a previous reviewer, that their WiFi had problems. The bed was average, but the bedding was clean and crisp. New TV's a nice touch. Furniture plain and average, but adequate. No problems with the housekeeping...even got extra towels in a single room, on request. Breakfast was standard, but fresh and well prepared (not included). I wouldn't suggest walking to the train station at night alone, but during the day no problem (4 blocks). Front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. I have no complaints whatsover about this hotel. If the location is convenient for what you need to do in Frankfurt, I'd recommend the place without hesitation as a good-value, comfortable and clean place to spend a few nights.

Room Tip: All rooms on the front have balconies.

How could I give this title, I don't know. We were with another couple who have flown several times to Frankfurt, but have never stayed there, thinking that it is an ugly city, lacking points of interest. We convinced them that it must be good during Weihnachten. Germans should be entertaining themselves, anyway! So, our aim was to visit Christmas and flee markets this time, in and other cities around Frankfurt. We chose this hotel, because of a very clever and cheap offer: stay 2 nights BB, get a map and Tourist Ticket for 2 days, and a coffee voucher for Zeil shopping center. Well, in a city without much to attract tourists, but full of hotels, how would managers fill them when there are no events? (20/20 points for management)

So, we took the chance, and booked 2 subsequent packages, making 4 nights. Early arrival and late departure, thus almost 5 full days! The hotel helped this by giving one of the rooms before noon, so that we could freshen up, take free coffee from the reception, and leave our luggage, although regular check-in was at 15:00. Besides, they also kept our luggage until 16:00, although check-out had to be before 12:00. Maybe this is what is supposed to be, but you don't get it with a generous smile everywhere, do you? The pretty young lady at the reception was way out of "The German concept", she was smiling from the heart! (20/20 points for reservation and reception)

We do not like strangers coming into our rooms, whatever the reason. So, we always hang the "Do not disturb" sign everywhere we stay. 8 out of 10 ignore it. Here, nobody invaded our privacy. On the other hand, breakfast was almost perfect, even in terms of a 5-star hotel. Only omlettes prepared on demand were missing, besides fewer choice of everything, but more than adequate. 4 types of cheese, meat-cuts and jam, butter, creme cheese, boiled eggs, sausage and honey, 3 types of bread and croissants, 4 types of tea, coffee, fruits, yoghurt and etc And a lady who continually making sure that none is missing. This all happens in a breakfast room 4 x 12 m2. Would you ask for more? (20/20 for service)

The standard double room size -looking front, 5th floor- was adequate. If you add the comfort of the balcony, better than that. Although it was a smoking room, and -5 C outside, I could pull a chair out and smoke there, sipping the tea I prepared using the kettle in the room. You know, even a smoker does not want to smoke where he/she sleeps! But you must also imagine what a balcony looking south would be like, when in summer. The only missing thing is that you do not have an appropriate mini-table to put there. (18/20 for internals)

When I chose the hotel, my colleague objected by saying the area around Hauptbahnhof is the place for drunks, junkees and prostitutes. But, from what I've read from different sources, the small street where the hotel stands, was far enough from that dirt. We have definitely not come across any disturbance on our walks to/from Baseler Platz, Pfholzheimer Str, Hauptbahnhof south entry. And, there is no such thing as rats running on the pavements of Frankfurt around Hauptbahnhof, like a Dutch lady has made a husstle about another hotel on the way. If you are going to use public transport in Frankfurt, this is one of the best places to stay. Because many main trams and busses pass from Baseler Platz at 100m. At an equal distance, there is Pfolzheimer Str, where some cross-Frankfurt busses depart. If you want, you can walk to the Hauptbahnhof south entry at 250m, from where you can go virtually anywhere in the world! In fact, Hauptwache is only 5 minutes away by tram.(So, 20/20 for the location)

We rented a car, so as to drive to surrounding towns like Mainz, Darmstadt, Weitzlar, Fulda, Aschaffenburg, which promised nice Christmas markets. Well, they were good indeed. We saw all except Fulda, because of a heavy snow fall which caused us to return from halfway. All were so perfect, that we wanted to become a local!

So; the next time, I will not take a chance against 98/100 ...

Only problem we met the angry nightshift receptionist mentioned previously, asking for coffee got a hilarious stomping display of stamping high heels! This person needs to be retrained. Apart from that Peter in reception was an absolute gentleman and would make a good manager best western take note. The management do not like criticism even though it is trivial even the manager for best western Germany ignores correspondence but who cares when frankfurt is so nice??
