Owner description: Considered the city's finest art museum, the Städel holds a fantastic collection of works from the 14th century through the present day.

This museum has a wonderful collection and it is well desplayed and labled. Our particular interest is in work of the 13th - 18th centuries.

To see Städel was the main reason for our day trip to Frankfurt from Köln. And it was worth it. Bosch, Durer, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Holbein, Botticelli, Pontormo it's just a partial list of old masters. French impressionists, Chagall, Munch. And of course German painters are well represented: the Expressionists (Dix, Beckmann) and a very interesting German impressionist Max Liebermann whom I've never heard of before (his paintings are also in Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin)

Amazing collection, it may no be as big as Louvre but it is certainly worth visiting.

Price is around 14 Euros plus 4 euros if you want to get the audio guide.

Food is really good at the museum's restaurant but pricey. So eat before you come.
