“Excellent choice at Frankfurt Airport!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

We stayed just a night at this new Hilton Garden Inn in mid October, 2012. We previously stayed at the regular Hilton, just next door, last Christmas season. Both hotels are brand new, so everything is gleaming and spotless. The Hilton is glitzier, but the Garden Inn is more comfortable. I commented on the stylish, but user unfriendly, bathrooms at the Hilton, so I was most interested to see the design of the Garden Inn’s. Much better. Better layout, and the use of a shower curtain, rather than those silly glass half-panels that allow water all over the floor, was roundly applauded by me.

Of the three hotels directly connected to Terminal 2, I would rate the Garden Inn as the best bet, with Hilton a close Number Two, and the Sheraton a distant third.

The Garden Inn’s rooms are smallish, as are the Hilton’s, but they are comfortable and amazingly quiet. Aircraft fly directly overhead when landing at the new third runway at FRA, but there is no noise at all. The plane’s shadow is the giveaway! The closet space, while minimal, is more than at the Hilton. The beds are very comfortable, the staff friendly, the trains immediately below your bedroom, the airport just a little stroll away – this place has it all.

We go thru Frankfurt several times a year, and while we were formerly clients of the Sheraton, all that has changed. We will become regulars at the Hilton Garden Inn.

I was so happy with my brief stay here. It's an easy walk from the airport, using one of the covered tunnels. Clear signage - no problems finding it. I was tired after a 7+ hour flight and had a long layover, so I grabbed a day room. The rooms are small (from Canadian standards), but very clean and very modern. The bed was comfortable and I was able to close the drapes to shut out the light and slept like a baby.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody passing through the airport in a similar situation, needing a day room to pass some time in a layover situation. Or even if you need to stay and get rested before continuing your journey in Germany.

Dear Bittenbytravelbugg,
Thank you for sharing your outstanding review of Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport!
If you would like to rest during dayhours at Frankfurt Airport we offer indeed great "Day Use only" rates via our hgi corporate website where you can book these directly at the best rates, guaranteed! Our hotelrooms were developed for a "good rest" and since the Hilton Garden Inn hotel is brand new we could do it right from the beginning, including planning & construction. In the carefully noise-isolated rooms you will find full "black out curtains", so you will not be bothered by outside sunlight! You will not hear people working along the corridor, nor hear guests in a neighbouring room sneezing.
Quickly dream away in our Garden Sleep System beds, which allow you even to adjust the firmness of the mattress! Four comfortable pillows and excellent linen will do the rest. Just make sure you set the alarm clock as you might not wake up that easy!
bittenbytravelbugg, thank you for highly recommending Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport!
Best regards.

I normally cringe at the thought of an airport hotel but had no choice this time. I was most pleasantly surprised at this modern, clean, fresh and friendly hotel. I loved the environment, it felt a bit futuristic, but in a comforting way. The staff at the desk and in the restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. I was there for one night during the Hurricane Sandy travel crisis with many passengers stranded and not able to get back to the USA. Seemed like all agreed that if you had to be stranded, this was not a bad spot to stuck in. I wouldn't have minded staying a few more nights to be honest. Great bathrooms - very comfortable bed - intuitive TV and very quiet.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, especially for praising our team.
You might have heard about the corporate vision from Hilton Worldwide hotels around the world, in line with the words our founder Mr. Conrad Hilton, spoke in 1953: "To fill the earth with the light & warmth of hospitality". We certainly will keep on doing our best to do so and we are glad you noted it.
Thank you once again for your complimentary remarks, we hope to welcome you back soon again at Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport!

About ten minutes walk from Terminal 1 of Frankfurt airport but not so hard as moving walk way is equipped for about a half of the total distance and just one minutes from DB Station. Hotel is brand new thus facilities are modern, well equipped and comfortable. The room rate was reasonable for this level of comfortability but the rate was jumped up a few months later.

Room Tip: No specific idea.

Dear masaofc,
Thank you for your great review regarding your recent stay at Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport.
Prices/roomrates usually fluctuate throughout the week, month and year. The closer you actually book to the day you actually arrive, the higher the roomrates might be. Also, big events, citywide conferences, and large exhibitions, usually have an impact on the rate being charged in hotels.
In general, and for Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport specifically, I would recommend to book as early as possible. Also I would recommend to book via the hgi (or Hilton) corporate website. On these two websites you will always find the lowest rate availalble for the date of stay, that we guarantee.
masaofc, we certainly look forward to welcome you back in the near future to Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport!
Best regards,
Ch. Muller

One of two new Hilton hotels at Frankfurt airport. Having stayed in both, the Garden Inn seems to be the better value for money. Rooms are smallish, but as most people will be staying for one night only before/ after a flight, they are perfectly adequate.

The hotel is very quiet, which is quite remarkable, as its not just at the airport, but adjacent/ overlooking a major motorway and right on top of the train station - but I had a good night's sleep nevertheless.

Wifi is included in the room rate (good), but was very slow in my room, so downloading a longish document seemed to take forever. The breakfast was good value for money, and the transport links (not just for flights) are excellent.

When booking the hotel, it may make sense to also check the "real" Hilton, which is next door - but the Garden Inn was cheaper for my last trip and proved to be good value.

I have stayed at a couple of hotels in and close to the Frankfurt airport...the Sheraton is way overpriced....and the others are offsite. The Garden Hilton is good and close and good for the money. If you need to get an early flight out of Frankfurt...the Garden Hilton will still allow you to submit your expenses without being questioned.

Dear Ingersollian,
Thank you very much for your nice review of Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport.
There are indeed only three hotels which are directly connected to the main terminal of Frankfurt Airport, no taxi, no shutte and no coat needed!
I would certainly also recommend to try the Hilton Frankfurt Airport, the hotel truly is a statement when it comes to design and comfort. Recently a guest mentioned that the Hilton Frankfurt Airport has taken airport hotels to new previously unknown heights.
The lowest rate you will indeed usually find at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport. In order to get the best available rate for your stay I would recommend you book your room on the HGI or Hilton corporate website.
Considering that you are at continental Europe's second largest airport the price/quality value in both the Hilton Frankfurt Airport and the Hilton Garden Inn is very good, especially since these two hotels are brand new at Frankfurt Airport. Both these two hotels feature the latest technology throughout, also when it comes to soundproofing to really ensure you have a good and comfortable rest.
Ingersollian, we certainly look forward to welcome you back at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport!
Best regards,
Ch. Muller

The hotel itself is new and clean with good facilities. It is located right next to the mainline train station at Frankfurt airport, to find it, aim for the long distance inter-city train platforms. There are local platforms as well, make sure you go for the long distance platforms!

This HGI is attached to a full service Hilton next door, but the room rate is about half, so it is a relatively cheap room given the location. The rooms are really nice, certainly big enough for an overnight with all the facilities you will need and multiple free International TV stations.

I would have given this hotel four dots except for the breathtakingly expensive prices at the bar and issues of access. The restaurant is pretty expensive as well and the choice limited, but the food is quite good so less of an issue.

I was charged €10 for a single measure of Johnny Walker Red Label, blended scotch. So a double Scotch is the same as buying a bottle. I guess I could have asked but I never thought it would be so much for such an ordinary drink. There were no drinks prices anywhere around the bar, which I think there should be if you intend to charge these rates. Also, the bar had no ice cubes, only crushed ice, for €10 a shot the least you should be able to expect is proper ice! When I got the bill, I was really annoyed, but as I say, I could have asked, so I just paid up, with a vow never to stay there again. its a small thing and probably not an issue for anyone else, but it really wound me up!!

Onto the access issues. The poor signage has already been commented on here, aim for the mainline station and you will find signs for it, but it is difficult and not obvious. The problem for me was I arrived at T2 and the hotel is at T1. There is a bus from T2 which drops you off at a street level escalator, from there it is up the escalator, turn right and then walk about 300m. My problem was I waited for a bus at T2 for 30 minutes and no bus came. In the end, I used the Skyline train between terminals, which took me to T1, but then is a much longer walk to try and find the hotel. While I was waiting for the transfer bus, loads of off airport hotel buses passed T2. It took me over an hour to finally get to my room.

So my recommendations are, if you land at T1, ask at information where the hotel is, or the mainline station and you will get there within 10 minutes. If you land at T2, book an off airport hotel and catch the hotel bus, which will drop you at the door of your chosen off airport hotel. This is way quicker than the Skyline, especially if you have luggage.

In either case, if you want to drink anything except beer, buy a bottle in duty free, there are ice machines you can use in the hotel, though it was obviously too much trouble for the bar staff to go up one floor to use the machine.

If all you are looking for is a decent bed in nice room, at a good rate, this hotel is fine.
