“Best Wiener Schnitzel in Frankfurt”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

We were delighted when we chose the Steigenberger Hotel in an overnight stop at Frankfurt Airport because of this restaurant we read about. It was described as an authentic frankfurter restaurant so this would differentiate it from the usual international cafe other airport hotels offer. They delivered more. There were basically 4 dining tracks you could select from the extensive menu. The buffet at 33€ is not spectacular so unless you are in a hurry, we'd skip it. The second is a complete goose meal. We weren't enamoured with so much goose in one go so we went on. The fish dishes comprised species like pikes, while genuinely local, aren't as enticing unless one has severest diet restriction against meats. So we went for the Wiener Schnitzel which is fried golden brown and juicy inside. It was simply the best schnitzel we have had in 30 years! It came with a trip to the salad bar and grilled potatoes redolent with bacon. At ~25€, it was by far the best choice. We washed it down with some George Debouef Beaujolais nouveau which was just released. If you must overnight at Franfurt airport, this is definitely the place to eat.

“Poor”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

Attended a Sunday evening business dinner. The service was very poor. There was an extended wait to be attended to and a discussion as to the best place that we would be allowed to sit and eat. Extra untie sails had to be requested. The buffet was OK, but just that.

“A very good and atmospheric restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

We were staying in the Steigenberger hotel and the last night we decided to visit this restaurant because we were too tired to go anywhere further. The decision proved to be a very very good one..
As already reported the restaurant is located inside what seems a very old and traditional forest house. The decoration is very nice and characteristic of the history of the area. A very warm and atmospheric environment for both a romantic or a business dinner. There are separated rooms so you can find both.

We have opted for the boufet menu. A very good and tasty variety. From oysters and fish dishes to more hard core meat options. Appetizers, cheeses, salads and some pasta dishes were compleeting an interesting dinning experience. Beer was also nice and served on traditional clay glasses. What I like almost the most was the carrot soup and the wild mashroum meat sauce. Also the sweets selection was very nice, especially something that was between stroudel and apply pie. Very very good! The service effective and professional. The prices, as in the hotel nearby, upper class.

“Dining in a historic lodge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

This historic restaurant is adjacent to the Steigenberger Airport Hotel/Frankfurt. The atmospheric building is a 230-year old forester's lodge with many historical artifacts hanging on the walls.

We chose the buffet dinner: 35 Euros for all you can eat, and this was an amazing introduction to German “rustic-regional” cuisine. It was impossible to even sample all the wide variety of foods on offer, including salads, charcuterie, cheeses, hot foods, and desserts. During our visit, the chef at the carving table was stirring up a mushroom sauce to go with the meats. This apparently is one of their traditional specialties. In fact, there were so many interesting sauces and condiments accompanying the various plates, we almost needed a local person to guide us on the authentic way to eat the various foods.

To finish off, the dessert buffet included wine-poached pears and plums, a layered custard pot with a mango puree topping, local soft-ripened cheeses, mousses, pastries and more.
