Description: If you are on the look-out for traditional Frankfurt cosiness, you will find just that in the historical ambience of the Unterschweinstiege restaurant. Here in the forester's house, which is over 230 years old, you can enjoy rustic-regional dishes in a familiar atmosphere. On Sundays, there is brunch and childcare, and in summer you can enjoy fish and meat right from the grill on the large garden terrace.

good food, but to expensive. Good wine selection, service friendly but slow sometimes. I will come back, because the other restaurants are not my stile for an airport hotel night.

I was hesitant at first. The opening and seating did not seem very welcoming to a foreigner traveling alone, but I was happily surprised in the end. The decor and floor plan was homey and rustic traditional. It felt old and used, as intended. The wait staff was attentive and very polite with just enough time in their busy job to have a word with a weary traveler. The food options included a buffet that I took advantage of. The entree section was good, but it was out shown by the side array of dessert offerings and a respectable set of cheese selection. The beer was served in ceramic steins instead of glass, which was a nice touch. The price was a little high, but given what was provided I was not disappointed.

I travel frequently and feel that it is important to outline the good and the bad. I have been at the restaurant several times and have always been pleased with the options.

The atmosphere is great. The service is quick and friendly, and they can explain the menu and buffet very well. A definate plus for international travelers.

The food offers a great variety of local and German options. I usually select the buffet and have always enjoyed it. The food has the right temperature, has above average quality, and a wide spectrum of options. The cheese selection at the end, combined with a variety of deserts, is a nice way to end the meal.

There might be options for dinner in the smaller communities nearby, but this is the best choice and value for your money.

At least once a year, I experience this restaurant for a business dinner. Service attention is getting slower, especially when it gets to repouring wine. I used to enjoy the buffet, but since some time it is less attractive, the food lacks the ingenious and subtle touch. The other day I ordered roast goose, the leg had a bit of meat but a long bone and the piece of goose breast, too, was so absolutely dry that it took a lot of effort to cut and chew. Probably it had spent several days in the oven.
