This is one of the places i the Romerberg that you get being treated bad just because the location makes the staff indifferent toward customers. Besides the food is just average but prices are five stars. To try German food avoid tourist stuffed places like these one.

We were in town for one night (returning from the middle east) and wanted to have an authentic German dinner. We walked through the old town and thought that this square would have some dining. We found about 8 different restaurants around the square and as this restaurant was the most full and that they had the white asparagus advertised on their boards, we would stop. They have a full German menu (all the Schnitzels as well as soups, salads, and other German fare) so we stopped. We were pleased with the meal and the beer. The service was fast but not rushed. The waiters were helpful. We were pleased and full after the meal. Exactly what we were looking for.

Travelling with friends and walked around the old town which is really just this square which has some lovely looking restaurants. We went in here because it looked really quaint and had the first German beer which was nice. The service was very German. Few smiles and even fewer helpful suggestions when we asked about 'special for their restaurant' maybe it's an English thing? The food was plentiful when it arrived. Fairly tasty. Had a steak and asked for it medium rare. It was less rare and over medium and fairly pricy at €19.80? I feel this lace relies on passing tourists and makes little effort to go the extra mile for their customers.

While walking around the Romer we decided to stop at this restaurant for a late lunch and had a great meal.
We asked for a table inside as the weather was cold. The restaurant serves good German food. They are used to having tourists all the time so they speak english.
We tried the Gulasch suop and a Frankfurt Schnitzel that were excellent. The wurst salad was just ok.
Beer was great.
After eating we moved to the outside tables to drink Apfelwein while enjoying the view of the historic buildings and plaza. This I also recommend.
We experienced good service, will try to return the next time we are in Frankfurt.

I do not know how to begin this
Awful review that I want to write. A friend and my self stopped here because in the whole square it was so the only one with people sitting in the tables ( everyone must have thought the same....starting from the first table with people clearly seating there by mistake....and the place got full). We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains. We got the starters after 50 minutes (only after asking about it) and the main after additional 20 minutes (only after complaining). We also asked some bread to be eaten with the starter, but we got it with the main course (20 minutes after the starter was finished).
So, we only had our food after a complaint for the long wait. The worst was that to make it up with us they offered a beer.....literally 1 beer, the problem is that we were 2 and we both had to wait. So we had to share the beer. Basically the service was awful (which is almost an euphemism).
Do not make the mistake to think " ok, the service is bad, but the food must be good" NO, nothing is more wrong!! The food is the worst we have eaten in a while. We both had been in Germany and Austria several time, so we know pretty well how a schnitzel and a frankfurter wurst taste like....well, this had nothing to do with an average ( not even high quality, only average) german dish ( no Germans were in fact warming there). The frankfurter were normal supermarket wurst. But the worst was reached with the schnitzel, which was clearly pre made and bought from a supermarket....nothing to do with the original Schnitzel. In conclusion we think that restaurants such this one are a disgrace for the German cousins in general. They sell their product as a typical from the area.....but the only result is ruin the reputation of the real typical products. So, basically, DO NOT STOP HERE.....KEEP WALKING
