I went here solo while on business and staying at the Westin. The restaurant is quite large, with many large tables. I assume they tend to get large parties. When I was dining, there was a large group of Chinese guests in a separate dining area, which I thought was a sign that this place is a good one to go for Chinese food.

However, the food really fell below my expectations. I started with the tofu and vegetable soup. It tasted really bland. For the main, I ordered the crispy eggplant and the vegetable noodles side dish. The eggplant was quite good, but the noodles was dry and also bland.

Service was quick and good. I was able to bill the meal to my room, which was a plus.

This restaurant serves a delicious Chinese food even for me as a true fan of Chinese gourmet. I love its food items listed in the very first page of the recommended list including eggplant, fried squid with spicy, bokchoy, hot and sour soup, and beef in Chinese sauce. The decoration is also highly impressive with nostalgic Chinese Shanghai style in 1960s. It is located next to Westin hotel.

This is well located within the Westin hotel in Frankfurt. It always seems shortstaffed although it has a good menu and the food is good. Good ambience and children friendly too

I stayed at Westin Grand a few times already but last week was my first time to eat at San San. The restaurant was recommended to me by colleagues. I tried there wine made from Lychee and it was delicious. I include a photo of it. The plate I ordered was one of the restaurant specialties, prawn with curry and it was very delicious. Service was very efficient and professional. I would love to eat there again.

Hostess who greeted us did not speak English. Usually I can get seated in a restaurant in Germany with the ten words I know; for some reason this was not the case with her and someone else had to help us get seated - possibly the owner, who was nice. Considering the hotel is physically connected to a major upscale American hotel chain, this was surprising.

Rice paper spring rolls usually means "not fried". These were fried and rather bland too.

Husband's fried eggplant was very good. It arrived with his fried rice (bland - no egg as promised on menu, although the shrimp in it were fresh), but my dish was nowhere to be found. Ten minutes later I still didn't have my dish. I finally asked the waiter about it and he dismissed me with "it's coming". No apology or explanation. Several minutes later I gave up and - since he was not interested in checking on our table - I went to him at the front desk and asked him to cancel the order. He again said nothing but "it's coming" and I again repeated my request to cancel. This time he acknowledged my request, again no apology. Finally got the check and this time an apology - the kitchen had made a mistake. Too late by then for an apology. the explanation and apology should have come 20 minute earlier.

Oh, and they did not give us any napkins. When we requested some, the waiter gave us paper napkins. Every single other table in the room had cloth napkins.

The whole experience was very disappointing. We'd been on a six-hour train ride from Austria and were looking forward to a nice meal when we arrived. We picked the wrong place.
