Locationwise and if you are on the move through Germany this has to be one of the most convenient hostels in Europe, being as it is within meters of Frankfurt main rail station. The free (brewed, not instant) coffee and free bread rolls (leftover from breakfast, but absolutely fine) are both great customer service and remarkably helpful. The price is quite competitive, all things considered. The ground floor living room is bright and comfortable. Now for the downside... The area around Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is extraordinarily rough, being packed with obviously disreputable late night entertainment venues, populated by a striking number of people with severe social integration challenges and generally dismal in addition to being ugly. Having arrived in daylight I found the neighbourhood repulsive; I guess navigating the street this hostel is on after dark would actually take a measure of courage. With hindsight I would have happily paid the price difference and stayed in a Youth Hostel, or even in an another city, as anywhere else in Germany, in my experience, will look vastly more wholesome than Frankfurt's red light district does.
